For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)
As I re-read these words from the book of Jeremiah this morning, I come to realize that God’s plans for my own life as well as for my children are never the same as I would ever thought they would be. As we are growing up we have so many dreams for our own lives, what type of career we would have, if we would marry or not, and how many children we would love to have and of course we would love to live at, the city, beach, mountains etc. However, we never could see or even image for any bumps along the journey of life. But, we all go thru it, rather it is a job loss or opportunity, to buying our own home, or even we are hit with any health issues for us or our family. As we are all going thru life how many times did we stop to ask God for his direction for our own lives, and have we truly listen to what he just might be saying to us. Have we put our children’s in the hands of God as well, yes we are their parents however God’s plans is always better than we can ever dream of or even imagine for us and even our children.
I remember learning that I was going to be a mom to my oldest daughter, the joy within me was wonderful, this was something I always wanted to be and that was a mom. My daughter and I are very close, as I little child before her brother came we always did everything together and I cherish each moment. I remember oh so well, dancing with her in my arms to her baby lullabies. I remember when she was on the back deck in her stroller looking at the trees and listening to the birds singing and she herself was laughing, they were bringing her joy. I realize then thru her eyes the beautiful world that God has created. As she was growing up she was sick so much and like any mom it breaks your heart when your child is ill. For many years we never knew what she had and more important to take her pain away. Then one day I heard the news from her doctor that she has lupus, I was shock, angry, I got mad, and how I wish it was me and not my child. As I was going thru scriptures I cried not knowing what I would do next, when I came across this scripture from Jeremiah 29:11. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord.” I knew then that God loves my daughter more than her dad and I would ever love her or even comprehend the love that God has for his children. I know that God has a plan for her life as well as my own, and his plan is so much better than ours. Even thro she is chronically ill God can still use her to glorified his kingdom. She runs a blog about all chronic illness, as well as a page on face book. She also leads more than one Bible study for woman on line, for the woman who is sick like her, some who are busy with life and family, and she has also written a book. A devotional and prayer book for thirty days which is called Honest Moments with God. I was once told by a pastor as long as you have the willing heart God will use you. Go to God, search thru scriptures as well as thru your daily prayers for God to share with you His Plans for your life, and believe me it is better than you can ever dream or imagine.
