God’s Family

Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.                                        Ephesians 2:19-22

 

As Christians we are called to belong to a family and not just believe. If you think about it when God created this world and also the first man, called Adam he said it is not good for man to be alone, so he then created Woman and called her Eve. So as you can see, since the time that God created everything we were never meant to live alone.  From the book by Rick Warren the purpose driven life, he tells us this, that the Bible says we are put together, joined together, built together, members together, heirs together, fitted together and held together and will be caught up together. You are not alone any more. While your relationship to Christ is personal, God never intends it to be private. In God’s family you are connected to every other believer, and we will belong to each other for eternity. In the book of Romans 12:4-5 Paul the apostle tells us this. For just as each of us has one body with many members (parts), and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, through many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. So you can see we all and I mean all belongs to the same body of Christ, and we all have different gifts what God has given us. (Romans 12:6-7) We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying then prophesy in accordance with your faith, If it is serving, then serve, if it is in teaching, then teach, if it is to encourage, then give encouragement, if it is in giving, then give generously, if it is to lead, do it diligently, if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully. God has given all of his children gifts to be able to serve him and to serve others. It is such a wonderful feel to belong and I mean to truly belong to a family, and more important to be apart of God’s family.
