Thankfulness

Colossians 4Every time we thank God for he has done for us, we acknowledge that he is Lord of all and our Provider. Yet even through we are his children and we know we a supposed to give thanks in all circumstances sometimes are words ring hollow to God’s eyes. We can say them without feeling the least bit thankful. It’s especially hard for any of us to be thankful in the midst of a bad day, when everything seems to be going wrong. God knows our hearts far better than we do. He knows when we are feeling thankful, and when we don’t. However, God can see in the depths of our hearts and our desire to please him by offering thanks even when we don’t feel like it. When you or I seem to struggle to be grateful, we need to stop and remember that He is the Great “I Am”, the Author of our life and of our faith. We are utterly dependent on him for everything, including our next breath. Every good and perfect gift comes from God. When we are thanking him during a difficult day, you are assuming the proper stance for a child of God. When we remain in this thankfulness, resisting temptation to grumble, you can find joy and peace in the midst of our struggles.

Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus

1 Thessalonians 5:18

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.                             James 1:17
