Does God Heal Everyone?

Luke 17.pngNow on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us! When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed. One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him-and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner? Then he said to him, “Rise and go, your faith has made you well.”                                                                         Luke 17:11-19

Anyone who knows me and my family personally knows that I have a daughter who is chronically ill with more than one autoimmune disease. It amazes me every time that someone tells her the reason that she is not heal it is because she doesn’t have enough faith or doesn’t have any. When you come to know her you realize that she is a Christian woman who’s faith is very strong and loves the Lord with all of her heart, and she loves serving God anyway possible. Even as a young child Victoria’s faith was amazingly strong that some thought that I made her read scriptures and made her memorize them each and everyday. That is far from the truth of it all, as her mom I raised her in a Christian home and shared with her daily how much God loves her simply because she is his child. She always loved going to church and being involved and it never surprise me to this day that before she begins her day or even ends her day she spends her time alone with God. Having a strong faith base being chronically ill allows anyone to deal with all the trial and tribulations going thru so much pain. Yes she does go thru times of being angry for always being sick and having to go to doctors, test, being admitted into a hospital and being on chemo and when she goes thru those times I simply tell her, Victoria God didn’t give you “For God didn’t give us a power of fear (2 Timothy 1:7) But I can do all things thru Christ who gives me strength (Philippians 4:13) She is a child of God who walks humbly with her God, and she also runs two Bible study for woman who are chronically ill like herself, this is how God uses her. Someone once told me as long as you have the willing heart God can and will use you for his Glory. The human body is something for the here and now, we all need to fix our hearts on heavenly things. Jesus tells us in the Gospel of Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you. A song that she and many learn in Sunday School of Vacation Bible School. It truly doesn’t matter if to the rest of the world she is different because of being sick what truly matters to God is your heart. It is a shame when someone looks different that the rest of the world makes fun of someone who is handicap in someway because to God it truly doesn’t matter at all, and believe me you don’t need to see a shrink. We as Christians do not have all the answers in this world, what matters if for us to Trust God and draw close to him for when you do and have that close walk it will not matter what others may think of you. If others judge Jesus when he walk the earth so long ago we too will be judge just as he was.

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.                                          Hebrews 12:2

My daughter has written and published three books so far another in the works a devotion and prayer journal. She will graduate next May with a BA degree in Christian counseling with a 3.8 GPA from Liberty University then onto her masters, she is also currently working with her service dog name Abby, so you see for anyone who is chronically ill or handicap God has a purpose for your life you were created by God for a reason.

  1. You have a beautiful daughter – inside and out. God always knows best, but we don’t understand. I have a daughter with Stage 4 cancer. God is walking with her (and with those of us who love her) through this journey, but we don’t see healing on the horizon. His plans are bigger than we can see. Thank you for sharing these insights.

  2. What a wonderful daughter you have! And I’m confident she will be an awesome counselor. People tend to trust others who are or have been suffering, rather than someone who’s “got it all together” and is ready to give out pat answers for complex problems. She will help so many people just from having “been there.” God bless her!
One of the reasons I wrote my book “BARRIERS (So, if prayers are so powerful, how come mine don’t get answered?)” was for people like those who tell you glibly that your daughter just needs more faith. In going through the Bible cover-to-cover and noting every reference to disappointment in God’s answers to our prayers, I found at least 14 reasons for that disappointment – and it always points to the fact that God loves us, and He knows best.

    1. I totally agree with you. Victoria’s health has decline since I wrote this post, last July of 2020 she had a rare tumor and her right adrenal gland removed it was cancer. There is no cure for this type of cancer, as well as the other rare diseases she also has. We also found out that Victoria was a conjoin twin, my other daughter died in my womb and Victoria has two sets of DNA in parts of her body, this is why she has so many health issues. Regardless of how she has suffer in life her faith in Christ remains strong, and I know that God’s plan for her life is different than mine. I can honestly say that it is the grace of God that she is with us and I have such wonderful memories, and we continue to make more memories daily. She has always inspire me when I preach and I thank God that He has chosen me to be her mom. In spite of it all Victoria is an advocate for her diseases on her you tube called chronically hopeful and has encourage others and she has friends through the different support groups. Christ walks with her and us daily through it all, and continues to give me strength as well
      Blessings

  3. Such a beautifully written, honest post. Although I absolutely believe that God still heals today, I think there are some things we will never quite understand, until we get to Heaven ~ healing being one of them. Your daughter’s story reminds me somewhat of the apostle Paul, who also suffered a physical affliction, and rather than healing him, the Lord in His loving kindness gave him the grace to endure it. Your daughter sounds like an incredible young woman and I will be praying for both her and for you. 💕

  4. Eileen, May the Lord richly bless Victoria’s ministry. She is a blessing to all. Jesus said that we would go through trials, but be of good cheer, He has overcome the world! May God bless Victoria beyond her imaginations. In the storms of her life, may she look forward to the rainbows as she clutches God’s hand and feels His presence. Karen

      1. Father, You know all that Eileen and her family needs. No trouble is too big for You. Lord, in the middle of the terrible storm, may they know Your peace that passes all understanding. Lord, may they feel Your presence as they’ve never felt it before. Lord, heal their bodies, their minds, and their circumstances. Bring glory and honor to Your name through them and what You are working in their lives. Thank You, everlasting Father. Bring peace. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Eileen, if you would like to email me at karen@possesshispromises.com, we could arrange a time to talk and pray. I’ll be praying for you and your family. Karen
