When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” Yes, Lord, he said, you know that I love you. Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.” Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.” The third time he aid to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” John 21:15-17
Second chances. We are want them, but in reality of this harsh world, second chances don’t come easy. When unkind words are spoken in anger once too often, friendships are ruined. When trust is broken over and over, marriages are shattered. The end comes. We don’t’ want to be hurt again. No more second chances. But not with God.
As we read above with the Gospel of John we read how Jesus gave Peter another chance, in spite that Peter denies Jesus not once, not twice, but three times, Jesus still gives him and us another chance. God see your heart and mine and even through we may never deserve another chance, freely he does gives. God understands your weaknesses. He know that you fail. But God who is perfect sees the real you, and by His grace and mercy, He provides the second chance that the world wouldn’t. It’s in His unfailing love that God offers His outstretched hand to those who humble themselves, knowing they can’t do it alone. God offers lots of second chance, and Praise His name he does, especially for me that I have failed so many times before, he looks past my mistakes, he sees my heart and loves me just the same. And even through you made feel like given up, just don’t because God will never give up on you, you are still under construction my friend as well as I.
Every believer needs second chances. Some of us need lots of them. (Beth Moore)
