She is clothed with strength and dignity’ she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed, her husband also, and he praises her: Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be pleased. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate. Proverbs 31:25-31
I am sure all of us have wonderful memories of our mom, or in case you never have I am sure perhaps you are making memories with your own children. What is the one thing that you or I can pass down to our children? for myself that would be my daily walk with Christ. My own mom Dolores died when I was fifteen years old from cancer and she had seven children. The one thing for me that stands out many years later is that she shared her faith in Jesus Christ with her children. Sunday was a day for us to get ready and attend church, and then home for a family dinner. I know that many today as mom have to work and this is one of the reason that the church of today has a mid-week service, for the parents that are unable to get to church on a Sunday. Family time was important to my mom as well as it is for myself, even through my husband is normally working late (he sells cars) it was and still is important for me to sit down and spent time with our children and not running to some other event for our children.
There is nothing quite like loving someone especially our children. I remember when I became a mom for the first time I never knew that I could love another person so much as my own child. Love is a gift that causes even the most mundane aspects of life to seem wondrous. We even smile at others more, and our children can always seem to but a smile on our face. Nothing like one of them coming up to you with a big hug and a kiss and saying mommy I love you. For myself when I first became a mom I began to see God’s creation all new again, as my daughter would giggle when she would hear the birds sings, or the trees blowing in the wind, I too stop just to listen to God’s creation.
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth (3 John 1:4) Knowing that my children all have accepts Jesus Christ as there own personal Lord and Savior is so important. Why you may ask, many reason, our children will go through difficult times in their own lives just like their parents and instead of trying to solve their problems own their own they just need to turn to the Master for help. My oldest daughter Victoria is chronically ill having many different health problems, such as lupus, P-O-T-S, colitis, EDS- Mast Cell and other problems she has learn to led on Christ for the strength she needs each and everyday. When she does get overwhelm (and their are plenty of those days) I remind her these words from 2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and of a sound man, and I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength (Philippians 4:13) When we as mother’s remain in God’s word daily his words flow freely from our lips at the right time. Because before every doctor’s appointments, test, hospital visits, emergency room visit we stop and pray for God’s help. We always need to tell our children that He is the Great Physician, Great Healer, the “Great I Am. with man it is impossible but with God all things are Possible. (Matthew 19:26) My two younger children were adopted through the foster care system, my son was abandoned at six months, and my youngest was left for dead from shaken baby syndrome. I do not wish for anyone to ever put me on a peddle stool all of this was God’s plan and not ours. I have been the blessed one all these years to be chosen by God to be called their mom.
In my pervious post I have shared with you about the Great Commission which can be found in Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, which also includes our children to make them disciples for Christ. The gospel is a love story, it is the story of God’s love for wayward people, poignantly displayed through the death of his one and only Son Jesus Christ on the cross for our sins. The knowledge of their precious love lifts our children’s soul and imbues even mundane aspects of their lives with a patina of richness. We need to tell them that that are loved by God and how precious they are not just us their parents by also by God. And no matter what that God will Never leave them or never forsake them (Hebrews 13:6) and that is His promise to us His children.
Happy Mother’s Day to All
Grace and Peace to You My Friends
