David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your heard. 1 Samuel 17:45-46
The famous battle between David and Goliath wouldn’t have been very noteworthy if the two had been the same size or had possessed similar skills. However, because David was a nine-foot, bronze clad, seasoned warrior, it was a match to remembered.
Of course, no one present would have bet on David for the victory. It was obvious that God’s intervention was David’s only hope. So David proudly proclaimed his trust in the Lord, as we see in today’s Scripture. And God gave him the victory.
But this illustrates the principle of 2 Corinthians 12:9, that God’s power is perfected in weakness. And so, at times, you may experience challenges that are too big for you to handle. But this is so that the Father can show His supernatural power through you. The important thing is that you honor God as David did. Have no fear. Run forward in faith and trust the Lord to empower you.
