But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes, its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit. Jeremiah 17:7-8
If you live in a cooler climate, then you’re probably experienced the gorgeous season that is fall. Each year as I drive up the mountain, the leaves slowly turn to shades of olden yellow, orange and red. It’s a thing of beauty, but eventually the leaves wither and die, then fall to the ground.
All to often, the same can happen with our relationship with the Lord, We get that initial fire for him, we burn brightly with it, but lose our way and fall away from him. If we keep our trust in Him, he tells us that our spiritual leaves will never wither. He wants our lives to be like trees that continually bear fruit.
Do your days resemble an evergreen, or do you feel like you have begun to wither? Replenish your soul by spending time in the Lord’s presence. Plant roots deeply in the Lord, and let Him water your mind, body and spirit.
