In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: We have a strong city; God makes salvation its walls and ramparts. Open the gates that the righteous nation may enter the nation that keeps faith. You will keep in perfect peace those whose whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock Eternal. Isaiah 26:1-4
What does chaos look like in your world? Crazy work deadlines, over-scheduled activities, long to do list and short hours? All the above? How about peace? What does that look like?
Most of us immediately picture having gotten away, whether to the master bathroom tub or a sunny beach. It’s quiet. Serene. The trouble with that image, lovely as it is, is that it’s fleeting. We can’t live in our bathtubs or in Fiji, so our best bet is to seek our peace right in the middle of our chaos. Guess what? We can have it, Jesus promises peace to all who put him first.
How appealing is it to imagine being unmoved by the stresses in your life? Is it easy or difficult for you to imagine claiming this promise for yourself? Ask Jesus to grant you try peace; fix your thoughts on him and watch the rest of the world fade away. When it tries to sneak back in, ask him again. Fix your eyes on Jesus and allow him to bring peace into your situation.
