Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation, he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. Psalm 62:1-2
Have you wondered why God has allowed the challenges of your life, especially the ones that seem to undermine everything you depend on? When we encounter serious difficulties and often, many at once, we may be tempted to feel hopeless. We find ourselves longing to have the Lord’s help and wisdom to face the obstacles ahead.
You may not realize it, but this is God drawing you to Himself. He brings you to the point of realizing that all earthly resources and security have failed you. After that, there’s only one place to go, and that’s to God Himself. This is a positive thing!
David faced this repeatedly as he waited to become king of Israel, and it was why God called him “a man after His own heart!” (1 Samuel 13:14) David realized there was only once Source to help and trust. God is bringing you to that understanding as well.
So as David said in Psalm 62:8, “Trust in Him at all times, O people, pour out your heart before Him, God is a refuge for us.”
