God does not withhold good. He is not a stingy God from whom we need to wrest carefully hoarded riches. He is a lavish giver. He doesn’t sprinkle blessings or dribble it. He pours it out in abundance. “He generously poured out the Spirit, upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior’ (Titus 3:6) He offers us “the riches of God’s grace that He lavished on us.” (Ephesians 1:7-8) How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God. (1 John 3:1)
He loves you so much that He makes available to you all His riches. All. He has no desire to withhold anything from you. “What’s mine is yours,” He says to you. “Since he did not spare even His own Son, but gave Him up from us all, won’t He also gives us everything else?” (Romans 8:32)
Paul makes this compelling case for God’s generosity, saying in essence, “He did not even hold his own Son in reverse, but gave him up as an offering for you. Is that not proof that all He has is available to you?” Do you see? If he loves you so completely that he did not even spare his own Son, could he possibly be reluctant to give you any other thing?” God showed how much he loved us by sending one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.” (1 John 4:9-10) Is there anything left for him to prove?
