You might not consider yourself a judgmental person, but all it takes is a reflection on your thoughts about others’ action or decisions to realize that you take part in some form of judgment, probably on a frequent basis. This isn’t to make you feel guiltily, rather, to bring to light that we are, by nature, judgmental creatures.
We come with a sense of knowing the difference between right and wrong, and we feel free to state when we think others are wrong. The trouble is, the Bible says this isn’t our job! Furthermore, it says that when we engage in pointing the finger at others, we will become the subject of judgment ourselves. So, how can we avoid judging and condemning? Forgive. This doesn’t mean turning a blind eye to wrongdoing, it just means that we don’t get to decide the verdict.
Thank you for this post, Eileen.
