Walking In Victory

Isauah 50

The Lord God will help me; therefore, I haven’t been insulted. Therefore, I set my face like flint, and knew I wouldn’t be ashamed. The one who will declare me innocent is near. Who will argue with me? Let’s stand up together. Who will bring judgement against me? Let him approach me. Look! The Lord God will help me.                             Isaiah 50:7-9

As you discover the purpose for which God created you, you’ll find joy and a sense of fulfillment that goes straight to your core. Even better, you’ll learn that your success doesn’t depend on you, but on the Holy Spirit who leads and empowers you. Certainly, it’s wonderful to walk in God’s will.

But be warned, this doesn’t mean life will always be easy. On the contrary, the Father will use challenges to keep you humble because it’s as you cling to Him that He pours His power into you. (2 Corinthians 12:7-10) Likewise, your ultimate calling is to be like Jesus, which requires additional refining of your character and faith. Finally, God works to keep you understanding toward others so you can comfort them with the same consolation He’s give you. (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)

So life may get tough. But the key to walking in victory is abiding in Christ and choosing to believe He’s actively helping you even when things are their worst. Because He is. So keep trusting God and walking in His will, because that’s truly life at its very best.

Sunday Sermon Notes: February 17, 2019 — TLP

Title: Love Not the World Text: 1 John 2:15-17 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. […]

The Faithfulness of God

Hebrews 10.png

And since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.                               Hebrews 10:21-22

God is good and he knows all of your needs. He is faithful and he longs to show you more of his glory and beauty. Prepare your heart to say “yes” to his call. Trust in his faithfulness. Chase after his joy.

Your love is pleasing to him because he delights in you. He sings over you, notes and refrains here and there as you walk the earth, waiting for Him. One day, his song will be complete, and when you hear its fullness, you will run to him! Until that day, trust in his faithfulness. Hold on to the hope you profess because you have the full assurance that faith brings; your heart is cleansed and you are pure.

Waiting For Dawn

Isaiah 35

A highway will be there. It will be called The Holy Way. The unclean won’t travel on it, but it will be for those walking on that way. Even fools won’t get lost on it; no lion will be there, and no predator will go up on it. None of these will be there, only the redeemed will walk on it. The Lord’s ransomed ones will return and enter Zion with singing, with everlasting joy upon their heads. Happiness and joy will overwhelm them; grief and groaning will flee away.           Isaiah 35:8-10

The sin and sadness of life can make it seem like an endless night, where we are continually waiting for the dawn of Christ’s return. In the darkness of nights, it doesn’t always help to know that he will return someday, because this day is full of despair.

To you, his beloved, he gives comfort. Don’t lose heart. He is coming for you! It can be hard, because he seems to be taking a long time, but he is preparing a place for you. You are not forgotten in this long night, your pain is familiar to him. Keep your eyes fixed on him! Soon you will hear his voice! The Lord is also longing for that moment when you are reunited with him.

A Renewed Mind — Seeking Passionate Prayer in Spiritual Warfare

In order for us to bring “every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ” (2 Cor 10:5), we must fully understand what it means to be new creatures in Christ. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (2 Cor. 5:17) We are no longer […]

The Morning Cry

Psalm 5

Hear my words, Lord! consider my groans! Pay attention to the sound of my cries, my king and my God, because I am praying to you! Lord, in the morning you hear my voice. In the morning I lay it all out before you. Then I waited expectantly. Psalm 5:1-3

The day dawns cloudy and bleak, but the tasks that lie ahead pay no mind to the weather. The day run together endlessly, and this one promises nothing different. Job, sickness, and financial problem are there waiting in the early hours. It was perhaps on a morning like this, when David cried out to the Lord:

What an amazing comfort to know that no matter how gray the moments, it is not our job to fret or figure it out. Rather, we can pour out our need to the Father, lay the burden on Him, and go about our business. Waiting is not passive; it’s active as we proceed through our day confident of God’s faithfulness.

Overwhelming Devotion

Psalm 89

I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations. I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself. Psalm 89:1-2

God in his great power and faithfulness never fails us, never gives up on us, and will never leave us along to fend for ourselves. His love for us remains, regardless of our circumstances or our weakness, strong and immovable. His devotion to his children exceeds that of all parents. He is without limits, and nothing can ever change his devotion.

This truth is overwhelmingly satisfying, when such devotion has been prove, what else could attract our gaze? Where else could our eyes find such beauty and purity as they do upon the face of Jesus? In awe, we recognize that his gaze is fixed right back at us, seeing us as a lovely and worthy prize. We can neither deserve this gaze nor escape it. We are flawed, but God is unwavering in His love for us.
