Hope In The New Year

Lamentations 3.pngI remember my affliction and my wandering, the bitterness and the gall. I well remember them, and my soul downcast within me and therefore I have hope; Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumer, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.                        Lamentations 3:23-24

God’s love never fails and neither are his blessings to all of his children, they are new for us each morning. We can begin each day knowing that his wonderful reservoir of blessings is full to the brim. This knowledge helps us to wait for him, entrusting our long unanswered prayers into God’s care and for his keeping. God assures us that not one of our prayers has slip pass him, unnoticed. God’s fountain of limitless love and unfailing compassion. As you and I wait in his presence, these divine nutrients are freely available. We may drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. Although many  of your prayers remain unanswered, you can trust in God’s great faithfulness. He keep all of his promises in perfect way and timing. Among other things, he has promised to give you peace that displaces the trouble and fear in your heart.  In the gospel of John 14: 27 Jesus tells his disciples and us “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you, I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. If you become weary of waiting for answers to your prayers, remember that he also waits, so that he may be gracious to you and have mercy on you. God waits till you are ready to receive the things he has lovingly prepared for you. His blessings are for all of his children, we only need to be still and know that he is God patiently.

Hope

Romans 12.pngLove must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Hope at times we humans have when trouble comes our way, but God wants us to stay hopefully and always in prayer even in the difficult times. When painful circumstances are weighing you down, God wants us to continue to Rejoice in him, “The Great I Am”, to exalt in hope, to leap joyously upward. Although physical jumping is sometimes impossible or inappropriate, your soul can leap upward at any time. As you life your soul up to God in hopeful anticipation. God showers of joy falls upon and within you. The longer and more expectantly you wait in his presence, the more abundantly he can bless you. One way to enhance this transaction is to lift your wide open arms up towards God, as if you were celebrating a triumphant moment in your life. This posture expresses great joy, and God respond by filling your soul with more joy. This puts you on an upward spiral of rejoicing. If you want to verbalize your jubilation, one of the best ways is to speak, sing, or shout, for me I rejoice in singing Praises the Father in Heaven for who he is and for all he has done for me, because everyday is a blessing that comes from him. When some days become difficult for me to move forward I continue to praise him and be in prayer, and the Spirit will speak on my behalf when I cannot find the words.

Rejoice the soul of Your servant, for to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.

Quiet Moments with God

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning, great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion, therefore I will wait for him. The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him, it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. It is good for one to beat the yoke while they are young. Let him sit alone in silence for the Lord has laid on him.                                        Lamentations 3:19-28

In Lamentations the prophet Jeremiah records five poems of sorrow for the fallen city.

As a new day is dawning, I sit quietly for my Lord, in Psalm 46:10 it tells us to “Be Still and Know that I Am God” forgive us Lord when we always seemed to be running around with life, and not taking the time with you, and enjoying the beginning of a new day. You have created us in your image, our soul longs for the fellowship with the one who created us. As I sit quietly, where Lord will I hear your voice, will it be in the wind that so gently touches my face and goes thru my hair, will your voice be with the singing of the birds, the song that is so beautiful in which you have created. Will I hear your voice thru the trees in the field that springtime has open their leaves, will I hear your voice as I watch the deer as it longs for the stream of clear waters. I sit and wait to hear your voice so gently in my heart and in my soul.

Prayer is certainly the grand means of drawing near to God, and all other means are helpful to us only so far as they are mixed with, or prepare us for, this.
