We look at this Son and see the God who cannot be seen. We look at this Son and see God’s original purpose in everything created. For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, rank after rank after rank of angels—everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him. He was there before any of it came into existence and holds it all together right up to this moment. And when it comes to the church, he organizes and holds it together, like a head does a body.
He was supreme in the beginning and—leading the resurrection parade—he is supreme in the end. From beginning to end he’s there, towering far above everything, everyone. So spacious is he, so roomy, that everything of God finds its proper place in him without crowding. Not only that, but all the broken and dislocated pieces of the universe—people and things, animals and atoms—get properly fixed and fit together in vibrant harmonies, all because of his death, his blood that poured down from the cross.
Colossians 1:15-20

When I think about all the things God “holds together”, I get overwhelmed.
I mean, He holds
EVERYTHING.
TOGETHER.
He holds the oceans in their place. If He didn’t, the waters would swallow us all up.
He holds the planets together, ever so delicately…
Because one wrong move of a planet to left or to the right would mean instant destruction of the entire human race!!!!!

So, knowing how He holds such massive and important things like oceans and planets in their perfect places….
Should make it fairly easy for us to trust Him to hold US together, too!
But I know I often don’t.
Instead, I feel most days that I am simply FALLING APART….
Not being “held together” at all!
I feel as “broken and dislocated” as I could possibly be.
I remember watching the movie, “The Impossible”.

t was the story of a family of five, who are tragically separated by a fierce tsunami in Thailand in 2004.
The furious rage of that storm was CONTROLLED by God.
If you lived through that , or watched the movie, it doesn’t SEEM like God is in control of ANY of it! So many people died, or were lost forever.
But yet, it was very clear that God DID have the power and control to rescue each member of this family, and untie them in the end.

It looked “IMPOSSIBLE “!
But with God,
There is no such thing.
So, today…
If you are broken…
If you feel like the things or people in your life are tearing you apart
Hold on to the God,
Who is literally, figuratively, and physically

Holding You!

Happy Thanksgiving To All!

Colossians 4.pngThe book of Colossians was written by the Apostle Paul while he was in a Roman prison, when he wrote to the church in Colossae. False teachers were coaching the Colossians to worship angels and follow special rules and ceremonies. Paul corrected this thinking through his letter, stressing that faith in Christ is sufficient for salvation and that nothing needs to be added to Christ’s sacrifice on the cross.

In chapter four Paul tells us that we need to devote yourselves to prayer being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders, make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answers everyone.                               Colossians 4:2-6

The Apostle Paul is telling all of us as Christians that we should always pray in all circumstances, in good times and in those difficult days and challenging days that we all go through, knowing that we do not journey alone in our lives. Receive God’s strength when ongoing problems require you to stick it out over the long haul. During these times we need to remember we walk by faith and not by sight. This is when you resort to grimly gritting your teeth, and try to not have a negativity mind. This is not the way that God wants his children to be and to deal with their difficulties. God is sovereign over the circumstances of your life, so there are always opportunities to be found in them. Sometimes those opportunities are so obvious you can’t miss seeing them. At other times especially when the journey is hard and seems endless, you have to search for hidden treasures. Do not be like the man who hid his master’s talent in the ground, lets us look to Matthew 25:25 “And I was afraid and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.” This man gave up and took the easy way out; blaming his hard situation rather than making the most of his opportunity. The truth is, the more difficult your situation, the more treasure there is for you to discover in it. God will gladly give you strength, it is limitless and freely available to each and everyone of his followers. It is exceedingly potent, because the Spirit himself empowers you and me–strengthening you with power in your inner being. This strength enables you to keep on enduring the unendurable. Since this strength has no limits there is more than enough of it to spill over into Joy! As I personally look over this past year and reflect on my own personal struggles I know that God has given me the strength to never quit, even when I wanted to and to remember when I walk by faith and not by sight I learn to have a victorious living in Christ Jesus, and I say ‘THANK YOU LORD”

Happy Thanksgiving!
