Lasting Joy

John 16b

Very truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy. A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world. So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I  will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.        John 16:20-22

There will be fullness of knowledge, the day Jesus is talking about. Jesus says to His disciples, “At times you won’t need to ask Me for anything” (John 16:23) There are always unanswered questions and unsolved problems in life. We must walk this path of life by faith, and not be seeing. We must accept the things we cannot understand. We are only able to grasp a fragment of the truth about God, but when Christ comes again, there will be complete knowledge. If we walk with Christ, the questions will disappear and the time of answers will dawn.

There will also be a new relationship with God. When God really knows us, we can ask him anything, we know that the door to God is open and that he has a heart of love. Jesus says that in this relationship we will be able t ask God for anything. If a child loves his father, he knows very well that his father sometimes says no, because a father’s knowledge and a father’s love knows best. We can become so intimate with God that we may go to him with everything, as long as we end with, “Let your will be done.” this new relationship with God is made possible through Jesus. It is because of who Jesus is and what Jesus did that our joy is complete and indestructible. Everything we have comes to us through Jesus. It is his name that we ask and receive, in his name that we approach God and are welcome.

You Can Not Hide From God!

Psalm 139.pngYou have searched me, Lord and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. Where can I go from your Spirt? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens you are there; if I make my bed in the depths; you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. I say. “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me.” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.                        Psalm 139:1-14

It is that time once again where many of us make New Year resolutions, where some of us say, I will exercise more, get plenty of rest, eat better than I have in the past, work more when I need to do so, and to slow down and smell the roses. Take the time for your friends and family, and try and not take anyone for granted, and more important is to learn to forgive more the way that Christ forgives each of us. However instead of making all these plans and not sticking to them what if we just learn to take one day as if it is a gift from God, because you know it truly is. Yesterday is gone forever we can not go backwards and change it, tomorrow, it is not promise to any of us, however today which is called P-R-E-S-E-N-T is God’s gift to all of us. If you and I begin each day with the thought that today is a gift, maybe we will look at life a little different. Remember no matter how we might want to change any part of our life that through it all Christ will be with us every step of the way. He was there when you life began in the womb of your mother and he will stay with you until the time that you return to him for all ever. It gives me such great comfort that there is no place I can hide that Christ couldn’t find me. because he is my Redeemer, my Savior, the Alpha and Omega, my friend, and more important he is the “Great I Am” and I am wonderfully made by him.

July 4th

July 4th.jpgEarly Christians often met violent opposition and Peter’s letter comforted and encouraged Christians who were being persecuted for their faith. In the book of 1 Peter 2:16 Peter tells us to live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil, live as God’s slaves. Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers. fear God.

Today we celebrate the birthday of American our nation, a nation where we are free to live, free to work anywhere we want, come and go as we want and more important worship God the way we choose as Christians. However many men and women died to keep us free, this day means more than a cookout with family or friends, more than people getting drunk and doing something they should not do, and more important than fireworks. If you never had a chance to talk with a vet I encourage you to do so to listen to the terrible stories of what wars can do to you in a personal way. How many people reading this post can say that the know the words to our country Anthem Star Spangled Banner- written by Frances Scott Key

The words were written in 1814 by Francis Scott Key, who had been inspired by the sight of the American flag still flying over Fort McHenry after a night of heavy British bombardment. The text was immediately set to a popular melody of the time, “To Anacreon in Heaven.”

The National Anthem consists of four verses. On almost every occasion only the first verse is sung.

Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light

What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?

Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,

O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?

And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,

Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.

Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave

O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Many have sung or hear these words especially during a baseball game, do you truly understand the meaning to these words. We remain free because of so many who went off to war and never came home to their families, and if some did come home they were never the same either. So I encourage you to say thank you to any vet that you see or somehow come in contact with, because without their sacrifice for our nation we would not be celebrating this July 4. Please stay safe.
