Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

John 14c.png

Jesus is preparing his disciples for when is to die and leave them behind, read his words from the Gospel of John 14:23-27  “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them and make our home with them. Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me. All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

When we die, we leave everything we own behind. But we also leave behind memories, traditions, experiences and relationships. Sometimes there are small gifts, treasures and photos.

Jesus had no possessions to leave behind. But he had other things that would never spoil and were more precious than anything else. One of them was peace. When conflict was rife outside the Upper Room; while violence was being planned; when death was knocking at the door, Jesus gave them peace.

This was the peace created by complete trust in the presence of God. It was absolute faith in His omnipotence and the acceptance of His holy will. It was also Christ’s own peace. By this gift of peace, He gave them something of himself. He knew they would be confronted with danger, opposition, suffering and even death. They would need peace more than anything else.

Open up your heart now to receive Jesus’ gift. Like the disciples, you probably need them more than anything else. If you are grappling with problems, confusion, opposition, resistance, ridicule, temptation, loneliness, pain or suffering, cling with all your might to this gift that Jesus gave his disciples. Allow his peace to calm your anger. Allow his peace to take over prejudices, your doubts and your grievances. Let it take over your entire attitude, your speech and your relationships. And whenever possible, give this peace away to someone else. The more of it you give away, the more it grows inside of you.

Do You Have Room?

Luke 2E.pngAs Mary and Joseph journey on to Bethlehem because of the census they came upon a dilemma, which was that no one I mean no one had a place available for them. However, because they were humble they were willing and did make the stable a home for themselves for a short time. Regardless that Mary was about to give birth to a King at any moment the stable was fine, and a manger where food was kept for animals, was good enough for her son to lay his head upon and rest.  Doesn’t this when you begin to think for a moment or two how our Lord Jesus Christ the King of the Universe came into this world and begin his life as a human. There were no fancy birth announcement, and she didn’t give birth to Jesus in a nice warm hospital bed, but she gave birth among the lowest of the earth, the animals. You see Christmas is not about fancy trees, or the parties that we attend or throw ourselves, not about the Christmas cards and definitely not about the presents either. This season is all about the birth of a child who would change the lives of men and woman forever. Our sins as humans have separate us from God and for all of eternity, but God did not give up on his people. His love is unconditional that is why even through we are sinners he sent his only begotten son. Look at the words of the Gospel of John 3:16-18 “For God so love the world that he gave his one and only son, that whosesoever believe would not perish but have eternal life”. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned, but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to received glory and honor, and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being,

Revelation 4:11

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.        Revelation 3:20

GiftsThere is only one gift that we could ever possibility give to the Christ child and that is our hearts. It doesn’t matter to Jesus how poor we are, how rich we are, what we have or don’t have, what matters it our hearts and that is all he wants, and for us to give of ourselves to others. Christmas is a season for giving, wouldn’t it be wonderful if we can keep that same Spirit all through out the year and not just one month a year. The greatest commandment that Jesus teaches us is this ” Love the Lord your God will all your heart, soul, and mind, and the second is like it, love your neighbor as yourselves.

Matthew 22:37-39

Prayer: Dear Lord

We come to you just as we are, as sinners, and ask for your forgiveness, and to say please come into our hearts and live with us forever. May we become the people that you have created us to be, not just this Christmas but forever.

In Christ Name we Pray

Amen

James 1.pngEvery good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change life shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of all he created.   James 1:17-18

This week we will be celebrating Thanksgiving here in America are we can take the time to remember the history behind the first Thanksgiving celebrate with the Pilgrims and Indians years ago. However, as you think of that time we learn in school do you also take the time to celebrate the many blessings that comes from our Heavenly Father, our Creator, the “Great I Am” I truly believe that too many times we as humans take for granted our blessings that we do have. Take the time to take a walk to see all the beauty that our land has to offer, the beauty that God has created for all of to enjoy. Everything that we have, everything that we own truly are God’s bless to all of his children. Try to think for a moment just imagine you standing in the presence of God, the “Great I Am” the Alpha and Omega, our Creator. His very name at times my soul shakes because I am unworthy to look into his eyes because I am a sinner. I am standing in His presence and I take my shoes off because I am standing on Holy Ground with My Great Redeemer. I can hardly breathe or simply say a word for I am totally amaze as I look into his eyes. His love for me his child, can I simply and honestly  put it into words within my heart, what I am truly feeling at this very moment at this very second.  I stand in the presence of the “Great I Am”, in His embrace, I loose all sense of time and all my problems I may have brought to him in this place as all but disappear for I am in His presence. Whenever I feel tempted to grumble I will simply go to you and simply talk it over with you. As I open up to you my Lord, give me your peace to calm my spirit down, so that all the cares of the world simply fall away. Help me to trust you by opening up to you each and everyday. I can’t wait until I become so discourage I just need to come to you with all of my concerns. As I talk it over with you, I will remember to thank you for all that you have done, for all the prayers that have been answered and the ones that will be answer in your time. My gratitude will provide a helpful framework for the things that concerns me. As you and I talk about everything, I think of looking into your face with all of its beauty and amazing light and my worries simply disappear forever. When I spend this time with you my Lord I will come away with joy and peace spending the time with you and this world that I have come to know can never rob me of that anymore.

A Gift Called Love

christmasWhat is Christmas, and why do so many people make so much fuse over it, it is just like any other day, isn’t it.  I would like to take this moment to share the very first Christmas with you. You see more than two thousand years ago God knew that this world need a Savior, someone that would be able to saved His people (you and me) from our sins. Because the sin that we as humans commit on a daily basis, has cause us to be separated from God, the very God who created you and me. Too many people back then as well as today have turn their backs on  God, they have no time for him or even cared what he thought and even believe that God even exist, and the ones that think this way is so far from the truth. Long before the first Christmas the prophet foretold the birth of Jesus. In the book of Isaiah (which is in the Old Testament) Chapter 9:6 read these words, For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders, And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Price of Peace. Some prophets predicted future events, their primary role was to call God’s people back to Him. Isaiah was telling the people back then about a future Messiah and that would be Jesus. Many years later a young girl named Mary was visited by an angel telling her that God has chosen her to carry his one and only son. Mary was a teenager herself ones believe between the ages of 14-16 yrs. old, she was engaged to a carpenter named Joseph. The angel told Mary (in the gospel of Luke 1:35) The Holy spirit will come on you and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, for nothing is impossible for God. Mary replied I am the Lord’s servant, may your word to me be fulfilled. So from that point on Mary and Joseph’s life would be forever change, God would use them both for His master plan to save his people from their sins. So Mary and Joseph went to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. (Luke Chapter 2) While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

You see Jesus was not born in a palace, or some fancy place, nor did he come into this world surrounded by his parents loved ones. Jesus was born in a stable among the animals, a place that probably did not smell to good. To continue with this special night (Luke 2:9) and their were shepherds living out in the field nearby. keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord, shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said, do not be afraid, I bring you good news for all people, For unto this day is born  in the city of David a Savior which is Christ the Lord, you will find a child wrapped in cloths and lying in a manager. So the shepherds as well as wise men from the east follow the star that stood over where the child was laying. Christmas is about a child being born in a manger, a child that would grow up and do so many wonderful things for people. However the most important thing that he would do would be to died on a cross ( in our place) which is not the end, he would Rise and He Lives Forever in the hearts of all who accept him as their own personal savior. As a song I have heard many times God Not Dead! He is truly Alive!, he is living on the inside of you and me.

Christmas is about God loving all of us even you who are reading these words. Their is nothing you can ever do that would stop God from loving and forgiving you. We give gifts to the people we love just as the wise men gave their gifts to the Christ child, the gifts of Gold, frankincense and myrrh. But the best gift that we can ever give to someone else is the gift called love, just like God giving all of us the greatest gift of all, his one and only son Jesus Christ.  If you are wondering what can you possibly give to the Christ child this Christmas and that gift is so simple, give Jesus your heart. Would you accept his love and the sacrificed he made for you because he LOVES YOU!, Yes You!

Merry Christmas my friend, remember God does Love you, because you are his child, his love is unconditional. Have a Blessed Christmas
