Living with Purpose

Proverbs 19.pngListen to advice and accept discipline and at the end you will be counted among the wise. Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. What a person desires is unfailing love better to be poor than a liar. The fear of the Lord leads to life, that one rests content, untouched by trouble.             Proverbs 19:20-23

Living on purpose is the only way to really live, everything else is just existing. Most people struggle with different issues one is who am I, do I truly matter, and why was I born for and what is my purpose is. One way to find the answer of your question is to seek God out, spend time with him through his words and in prayer and believe when he is ready he will tell you what your purpose is here on earth. Once you know what God wants you to do, the blessings comes in actually doing it. Our life purpose is to worship Christ with our whole heart, serve him with our shape, fellowship with his family, grow like him in character, and fulfill his mission in the world so he receives glory. My life purpose is to be a member of Christ’s family, a model of his character, a minister of his grace, a messenger of his word, and a magnifier of his glory. My life purpose is to love Christ, grow in Christ, share Christ, and serve Christ through his church. and to lead my family and others to do the same. In other words Jesus tells us in the book of Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Jesus has commission all of his disciples including you and me, to share his love with others, to walk humbly with our God. To make disciples for his kingdom, my friend we as Christians are all expected to do this how you may ask, by sharing your faith with someone today it is that simply.  We all need to continue to become the hands and feet of Christ while we still live here on earth, when others sees us they truly see the “Great I Am” through all of us and in this way they’ll know we are Christians by our love.

Through the Eyes of God

James 4b.pngNow listen, you who say, Today or tomorrow we will go to this city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money. Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that. As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it sin for them.    James 4:13-17

Have you ever taking the time to think of how God sees you? I would say we have all been guilty of this as well, because we can see the good in others, there talents, but when we come to us to see what God sees our view and opinion of ourselves falls pretty short. I believe that this happens after we have been hurt by another, from a situation that takes place in our lives we begin to believe the lies from the devil himself, I am not good enough. The way you see your life shapes your life. Your perspective will influence how you invest your time, spend your money, use your talents, and value your relationships. I have read more than once the book call The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren a well known author, if you haven’t read it as of yet I do encourage you to do so. As Rick Warren shares in his book, we don’t know all the test God will give us, but we can predict some of them, based on the Bible. You will be tested by major changes, delayed promises, impossible problems, unanswered prayers, undeserved criticism, and even senseless tragedies. I know that in my own life that God test my faith in many ways, through having a chronic ill child, times of challenges in my marriage, the disappointments I went through with people, but during these times my faith gets tested over and over again of being faithful to my Creator, my Lord and Savior, and through these times as I look back on my life I have grown closer to Christ more than I could ever image I would be able to do. Every time you or I pass a test, God notices and makes plans to reward you in eternity. In the book of James he tells us “Blessed are those who endure when they are tested. When they pass the test, they will received the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.                                                                                                   Our culture today says, “If you don’t own it, you will not take care of it. But Christians live by a higher standard, “Because God owns it, I must take the best care of anything I have because all gifts are a blessing from God, in other words everything and I mean everything I have and own comes from God and God alone. Rick shares with us in his book that Christians should carry spiritual cards (called a green card), to remind us that our citizenship is in heaven. God says his children are to think differently about life from the way unbelievers do, all they do is to worry about life here on earth, and for us as Christians is to look forward to the day when we are reunited with the Risen Lord Jesus Christ. If you are not sure how God sees you and how precious you are to him, a simply suggestion for you to do is ask him, and believe me he will tell you. He loves you so much that he sent his one and only son Jesus into this world to die for us all so that we will never be separated from him once we leave this world. Remember when life gets hard and really hard for you, and you are overwhelmed with doubt, remember you are not home yet, and when the time comes and it will in a blink of an eye you will return home to the Father, “The Great I Am”

Parable of the Mustard Seed

untitled mustard seed.png Read Matthew 13:31-32

Jesus told his disciples another parable. “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Through it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”

Jesus used parables often and to great effect. Parables were a good way to teach and Jesus was good at telling them. The enemies of Jesus were always waiting for him to say something they could use against him. ( Matthew 13:34-35) Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable. So was fulfilled what was spoken through the prophet:

I will open my mouth in parables,

I will utter things hidden since the creation of the world.  (Psalm 78:2, and also the new Testament  1 Corinthians 2:7)

What Jesus was teaching his disciples and even us today is that we just need to have faith as tiny as a mustard seed to believe. Too many times people would say show it to me and I will believe it, however Jesus was telling us the opposite. You need to believe first, that is the start to having faith. If we look at the clouds and different things in the sky we know when rain or snow is coming, we can feel the wind all around us. However when it comes to believing people want proof. Lets talk a good look around our world, pass any of the terrible things we have seen and what the news has put on our TV, computers, newspaper, and let us look at the beauty that God has created for his children. It’s winter now, and even thro the bad weather can be dangerous to drive or walk in for many, we can see how white the snow is. When I look around my home with the snow, I see that the earth is asleep for now until springtime, but these words come to my mind. Through your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow ( Isaiah 1:18) God has wipe my sins away and I am now white as snow, and he has done this thru his one and only son Jesus Christ who died on the cross for all who believes. Have you ever listen to a small child, I mean really listen to them, they are not afraid to believe in God who they can’t see with their own eyes, however they can feel him in their hearts. I have taught Sunday School and lead Vacation Bible School for many years, and the one thing I can truly say it is not always what I have taught them it is what they have taught me along the way about faith. I remember when I began to teach Sunday School in my early twenties, and it was the kindergarten class, ( a little child could see that I had been  crying from a difficult time I was going thru)  and the little boy came up and gave me wild flowers, and told me these words, I love you, things will get better. I knew in my spirit that it was God speaking thru this little boys to give me words of encouragement, and to remind me how much he truly loves me, and yes he truly loves you, just because you are his son or daughter and for no other reason. Over the next few writings on my blog I will share and talk with you more on having a tiny seed of faith.
