Blue Christmas

Romans 15.pngTragedies unfold each year pausing for nothing. Heartless shootings that result in lives lost with no cause. The Las Vegas Massacre. The Texas Church shooting. Those left behind consumed with grief which feels as if their hearts are being ripped out, no words can describe its depth.
Natural disasters destroying countless people. Leaving communities once thriving fighting to stay alive. Desperately trying to rebuild. Each natural disaster claiming lives. Hurricane Harvey. Hurricane Irma. Wildfires in California.
Then the issue of human sin within the truth of Hashtag Me Too. Ugly, heartless sin which begs to be hidden. Revealing the horror humans are capable of. Of course, these few things are only the surface of the devastation surrounding us. Financial difficulties, abuse, and relationship issues add to the impact. Additionally, much devastation consumes us. Heartbreak, depression, anxiety, panic attack, grief, and personality disorders.   The hardships are unending. The news reminds us of this often. Is there meaning in life? Any purpose in all the pain? One can even question if there is anywhere safe anymore. It is draining; sucking the joy from us. At times, we feel dead inside, nearly falling apart as the world caves in burying us.                                                                                 As we all think of these things within our own lives it does not mean that there is no hope for any of us. As I read these words today in the book of Romans 15:13 written by the Apostle Paul “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” We humans try day in and day out to find things that can fill the void we are feeling and have been feeling for a long time. Through difficulties around in this world. Rejoice that Jesus is always present with us. Knowing Jesus can enable us to cope with any and all circumstances, strengthening us as we all look to trust the baby in the manger. No matter how hopeless your situation may seen, Jesus assure you that all things are possible with God. Jesus is the Truth and therefore he is true to all of his promises. They provide a rock-solid foundation on which you can live and move and have your being. Since he is the living word, affirming your trust in his promises is an excellent way to draw near him. As any or all of us bask in the beauty of His Presence, you may find yourself wanting to praise Jesus, the Christ, The “Great I Am” Do not restrain that holy impulse, instead, give it a voice. While you are worshipping Jesus, new hope will grow within you. Hope is in Jesus this Christ Season may the Christ Child give you the joy, love and peace that you long to have.

Merry Christmas

Does God Heal Everyone?

Luke 17.pngNow on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us! When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed. One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him-and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner? Then he said to him, “Rise and go, your faith has made you well.”                                                                         Luke 17:11-19

Anyone who knows me and my family personally knows that I have a daughter who is chronically ill with more than one autoimmune disease. It amazes me every time that someone tells her the reason that she is not heal it is because she doesn’t have enough faith or doesn’t have any. When you come to know her you realize that she is a Christian woman who’s faith is very strong and loves the Lord with all of her heart, and she loves serving God anyway possible. Even as a young child Victoria’s faith was amazingly strong that some thought that I made her read scriptures and made her memorize them each and everyday. That is far from the truth of it all, as her mom I raised her in a Christian home and shared with her daily how much God loves her simply because she is his child. She always loved going to church and being involved and it never surprise me to this day that before she begins her day or even ends her day she spends her time alone with God. Having a strong faith base being chronically ill allows anyone to deal with all the trial and tribulations going thru so much pain. Yes she does go thru times of being angry for always being sick and having to go to doctors, test, being admitted into a hospital and being on chemo and when she goes thru those times I simply tell her, Victoria God didn’t give you “For God didn’t give us a power of fear (2 Timothy 1:7) But I can do all things thru Christ who gives me strength (Philippians 4:13) She is a child of God who walks humbly with her God, and she also runs two Bible study for woman who are chronically ill like herself, this is how God uses her. Someone once told me as long as you have the willing heart God can and will use you for his Glory. The human body is something for the here and now, we all need to fix our hearts on heavenly things. Jesus tells us in the Gospel of Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you. A song that she and many learn in Sunday School of Vacation Bible School. It truly doesn’t matter if to the rest of the world she is different because of being sick what truly matters to God is your heart. It is a shame when someone looks different that the rest of the world makes fun of someone who is handicap in someway because to God it truly doesn’t matter at all, and believe me you don’t need to see a shrink. We as Christians do not have all the answers in this world, what matters if for us to Trust God and draw close to him for when you do and have that close walk it will not matter what others may think of you. If others judge Jesus when he walk the earth so long ago we too will be judge just as he was.

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.                                          Hebrews 12:2

My daughter has written and published three books so far another in the works a devotion and prayer journal. She will graduate next May with a BA degree in Christian counseling with a 3.8 GPA from Liberty University then onto her masters, she is also currently working with her service dog name Abby, so you see for anyone who is chronically ill or handicap God has a purpose for your life you were created by God for a reason.

My Redeemer Lives

Zephaniah.jpgSing, Daughter Zion shout aloud, Israel! Be glad and rejoice with all your heart, Daughter Jerusalem! The Lord has taken away your punishment, he has turned back your enemy. The Lord, the King of Israel is with you; never again will you fear any harm. On that day they will say to Jerusalem, Do not fear, Zion; do not let your hands hand limp. The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior saves. He will take great delight in you, in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.

Zephaniah 3:14-17

Jesus is our Redeemer and I know that my Redeemer Lives. Before we knew him, we were a slave to sin. In order for Jesus to redeem us-to deliver us from bondage-he paid the full penalty for our sins. The price was astronomical, the sacrifice of Jesus’ own blood! So we belong to Christ, and we will live with him throughout eternity. Since we were brought at such an high price, we need to glorify Jesus in our bodies and in our spirits. We glorify Jesus in our bodies by taking care of ourselves and abstaining from immorality. Our lives is a precious gift from God, and he wants us to live fully in ways that brings him glory and give us healthy pleasure. We glorify Jesus in spirit by delighting in him above all else. This is a most joyful pursuit! The world contains much beauty and many sources of enjoyment, but Jesus outshine them all. As we orient our spirit towards him. He blesses us with the joy of his presence. The pleasure is independent of our circumstances, it flows from the fountain of his eternal love. Because Jesus is our Redeemer, and I know he lives, I will continue delight in my spirit with my singing because of what he has done for me.

A Day With God

1 Corinthians.jpgAs I begin my day with God I meditate on his words as always, as this morning I read from 1 Corinthians 3:16 these words were written by the Apostle Paul to address the problems in the church in Corinth, read these words: Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you? Take a moment and think about these words God’s Spirit lives in us (wow) Everything that comes out of our own mouths, everything that we put into the body, as well as anything we seem to do to our own body is a reflection on God, this is how others know who we are not just by us saying that we are a Christian also by our actions and deeds. God’s knows that we are far from perfect and he is a forgiven God and His Spirit that lives in all of us, points out our mistakes and overtime we begin to draw closer to God. God delights in our desire to live steadfastly in his presence. As if we were a tree planted close to him. However, unlike a tree that cannot move we can choose to stay near to him or choose not to. Through God promise to is that never will I leave you, never will I forsake you. (Hebrews 13:5) At times with the problems that overwhelms you or me and you have forgotten these words start looking for ways to remind the promises God has given to all of his children thru his words. God’s Spirit who lives in us, will never leave you or me in the compromised condition. He helps us to remember who we are and more important who he is and that we are a child of the Most High King and that is Jesus Christ. We belong to Him! Returning to God is not a hard task, just simply affirm your trust in his unfailing love for you. As we reconnect with him, remember his love for you washes over all of his children, cleansing, refreshing and filling you and me. No matter how many times we may forget him, God’s love for us will never fail. Continue to grow closer to him, as well to understand that God’s Spirit dwells in us, so he is never far away from any of us.

Are You Listening

1 Samuel.png Then the Lord called Samuel. Samuel answered, ” Here I am. And he ran to Eli and said, Here I am, you called me.” But Eli said, “I did not call, go back and lie down,” So he went and lay down. Again the Lord called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am, you called me.” My son, “Eli said, I did not call go back and lie down. Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord. The word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him. A third time the Lord called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, Here I am, you called me.” Then Eli realized that the Lord was calling the boy. So Eli told Samuel, ” Go and lie down, and if he calls you ,say, “Speak, Lord for your servant is listening.” So Samuel went and lay down in his place. The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel!” “Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”

Samuel was a child when he heard the Lord calling him. How often as Christians do we say these words to the Lord that we are listening, and are we truly listening to what he might be saying. Is that because we are over committed our own lives that we only half listen. As adults when we begin to work, we go out with friends to have a good time, because we feel we work hard we deserve to have some fun. Next we get married, and we still work and still enjoy having fun with friends and our spouse. Then we begin to have our family and we get so busy with the demands of life in general that we never truly are listening to the voice of God. How can we possible know what God’s will for our lives if we don’t stop to listen to what he is saying to us. More than ten years ago that is what I began to do to slow down, take the time to fast and seek God’s will for my own life. The first time I heard someone calling my name I look around my home and I realize that no one was home except for me. This happen twice, so then on a Sunday morning after our church’s service I ask our pastor can we talk. I began sharing what I heard, I thought he was going to tell me I was crazy, but he did not. ( I also told he I was too afraid to talk with God almighty, because I knew I was a sinner)  He ask me if I remember the story about Samuel and I did, so he told me the next time I heard that voice say Your servant is listening. Well guess what it happen again and that is what I said, your servant is listening. Thru my dreams I had seen what God was calling me to do.

I know when we all seek God and truly listening what he is saying and what he has called all of us to do in this world, we will begin to hear the voice of God. You see God has a job just for you that no one but you are able to do it, I don’t know what that is but God does. You just need to Seek and You will found your answer.

God’s Plan

God's Plan.pngFor I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  (Jeremiah 29:11)

As I re-read these words from the book of Jeremiah this morning, I come to realize that God’s plans for my own life as well as for my children are never the same as I would ever thought they would be. As we are growing up we have so many dreams for our own lives, what type of career we would have, if we would marry or not, and how many children we would love to have and of course we would love to live at, the city, beach, mountains etc. However, we never could see or even image for any bumps along the journey of life. But, we all go thru it, rather it is a job loss or opportunity, to buying our own home, or even we are hit with any health issues for us or our family. As we are all going thru life how many times did we stop to ask God for his direction for our own lives, and have we truly listen to what he just might be saying to us. Have we put our children’s in the hands of God as well, yes we are their parents however God’s plans is always better than we can ever dream of or even imagine for us and even our children.

I remember learning that I was going to be a mom to my oldest daughter, the joy within me was wonderful, this was something I always wanted to be and that was a mom. My daughter and I are very close, as I little child before her brother came we always did everything together and I cherish each moment. I remember oh so well, dancing with her in my arms to her baby lullabies. I remember when she was on the back deck in her stroller looking at the trees and listening to the birds singing and she herself was laughing, they were bringing her joy. I realize then thru her eyes the beautiful world that God has created. As she was growing up she was sick so much and like any mom it breaks your heart when your child is ill. For many years we never knew what she had and more important to take her pain away. Then one day I heard the news from her doctor that she has lupus, I was shock, angry, I got mad, and how I wish it was me and not my child. As I was going thru scriptures I cried not knowing what I would do next, when I came across this scripture from Jeremiah 29:11. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord.” I knew then that God loves my daughter more than her dad and I would ever love her or even comprehend the love that God has for his children. I know that God has a plan for her life as well as my own, and his plan is so much better than ours. Even thro she is chronically ill God can still use her to glorified his kingdom. She runs a blog about all chronic illness, as well as a page on face book. She also leads more than one Bible study for woman on line, for the woman who is sick like her, some who are busy with life and family, and she has also written a book. A devotional and prayer book for thirty days which is called Honest Moments with God. I was once told by a pastor as long as you have the willing heart God will use you. Go to God, search thru scriptures as well as thru your daily prayers for God to share with you His Plans for your life, and believe me it is better than you can ever dream or imagine.
