Blue Christmas

Romans 15.pngTragedies unfold each year pausing for nothing. Heartless shootings that result in lives lost with no cause. The Las Vegas Massacre. The Texas Church shooting. Those left behind consumed with grief which feels as if their hearts are being ripped out, no words can describe its depth.
Natural disasters destroying countless people. Leaving communities once thriving fighting to stay alive. Desperately trying to rebuild. Each natural disaster claiming lives. Hurricane Harvey. Hurricane Irma. Wildfires in California.
Then the issue of human sin within the truth of Hashtag Me Too. Ugly, heartless sin which begs to be hidden. Revealing the horror humans are capable of. Of course, these few things are only the surface of the devastation surrounding us. Financial difficulties, abuse, and relationship issues add to the impact. Additionally, much devastation consumes us. Heartbreak, depression, anxiety, panic attack, grief, and personality disorders.   The hardships are unending. The news reminds us of this often. Is there meaning in life? Any purpose in all the pain? One can even question if there is anywhere safe anymore. It is draining; sucking the joy from us. At times, we feel dead inside, nearly falling apart as the world caves in burying us.                                                                                 As we all think of these things within our own lives it does not mean that there is no hope for any of us. As I read these words today in the book of Romans 15:13 written by the Apostle Paul “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” We humans try day in and day out to find things that can fill the void we are feeling and have been feeling for a long time. Through difficulties around in this world. Rejoice that Jesus is always present with us. Knowing Jesus can enable us to cope with any and all circumstances, strengthening us as we all look to trust the baby in the manger. No matter how hopeless your situation may seen, Jesus assure you that all things are possible with God. Jesus is the Truth and therefore he is true to all of his promises. They provide a rock-solid foundation on which you can live and move and have your being. Since he is the living word, affirming your trust in his promises is an excellent way to draw near him. As any or all of us bask in the beauty of His Presence, you may find yourself wanting to praise Jesus, the Christ, The “Great I Am” Do not restrain that holy impulse, instead, give it a voice. While you are worshipping Jesus, new hope will grow within you. Hope is in Jesus this Christ Season may the Christ Child give you the joy, love and peace that you long to have.

Merry Christmas

Grace and Peace to You My Friends

Who Am I?

John 1a.pngThere was a man sent from God whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will but born of God.                                           John 1:6-13

As we go through difficult times in our own lives, we sometime wonder who were are, at times people and even ourselves put labels on us such as: victim, depress, no good, failure, impossible, strange, addict, I don’t matter, being angry, unforgiveable, anxious ,rejected, weak, refugee, empty, too many regrets and I am sure many of us can even think of more names that are NOT true.

Jesus’ light shines on each and every one of you continually, whether you are aware of it or not. During the wee hours of the night, your thoughts can be distorted. Although you may feel as if you’re enveloped in the darkness, remember that darkness and light are alike to him. You need the light of Jesus more than you need the light of the day. When the way before you seems dark and threatening, you can still trust him to guide you. Walking by faith is important for all to discern the way you should go. Instead of trying to see through clouds of uncertainty fix you eyes on Jesus. He can and will show you a way forward where there appears to be none. As you strive to stay in communication with Jesus thru prayers your soul will begin to open to the Creator of the Universe the “Great I Am” and even in the midst of your dark days you will come to know just who you are “JESUS BELOVED CHILD” you do matter!

I WILL PRAISE THE LORD!

Psalm 105.jpgGive Praise to the Lord, proclaim his name, make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him, tell pf all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name, let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. Look to the Lord and his strength, seek his face always.                               (PSALM 105:1-4)

I rejoice with each new day, being willing to follow Christ wholehearted where ever he may lead me. Anticipate blessings as we journey together. Since he has created this day of my life and presented to me free of charge, and I do received it gratefully. My natural tendency when I awake is to asses the day thinking how go or even how bad it maybe for me. I do this almost unconsciously, often basing my conclusions on something as trivial as the weather. I need to break this habit so I can be more receptive to Christ and his many blessings upon my life. A thankful attitude is immensely helpful. When I awake to find a day which is dark and raining, I still can thank him for the day anyway. Having done so, I will be less likely to complain about the weather. I need to also remember that he has arranged the conditions of my day. So that I can assume there is much good to be found in it. Rejoicing will help me find blessings in my day. When my circumstances are looking rather bleak I will be joyful in your love for me. I will enjoy knowing you Lord Jesus and just look for precious gifts that you have given along the path as we journey together. In faith, I need to be on the look out for good things both great and small. Also, because you are my Teacher, you will provide learning opportunities thru the day. When the end of my day is at hand I need to stop and look back at my many blessings. I need to take time to reflect all the gifts that your love has showering me with. I will let my mind wonder for a moments before I sleep to say Thank You Lord, that I have chosen to Praise You no matter what takes place in my life.
