Jesus Teaches On Prayer

Matthew 6.pngAnd when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you ray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many ways. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.                       Matthew 6:5-8

Few nations had nobler expectations of prayer than the Israelites, and no nation placed prayer higher on their priority list than they did. “Prayer is vital,” the rabbis said,” more important than all good works. However, certain crucial errors entered the Jewish prayer life. In Jesus’ time there was a growing tend towards strictly formal prayer. The Jews prayed according to three prescribed things: The first was the Shema that consisted of there short Scriptures. All Jews had to pray the whole Shem every morning and evening, and for this reason it ran the risk of becoming an idle repetition of words.

The Jewish liturgy also prescribed certain prayers for different occasions. There was scarcely and event or occasion that did not have special prayers: before and after meals; prayers concerning light, the new moon, lightning, comets, rain, storms, the sea, dams and rivers, receiving good news, and entering or leaving a town or city. This had to do with the fact that every event in life was brought to God’s attention. But because the prayers were so precisely prescribed, the whole system tended to become very formal. The prayers slipped from the tongue automatically, with little meaning. So, don’t view prayer as a formal commitment to ensure God’s grace. In the same way, we don’t want our quiet time to degenerate into a habit and become a mere formality.

He thought prayer to be more his business than anything else, and I have seen him come out of his closet with a serenity of face next to shining.

Hope

Romans 12.pngLove must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Hope at times we humans have when trouble comes our way, but God wants us to stay hopefully and always in prayer even in the difficult times. When painful circumstances are weighing you down, God wants us to continue to Rejoice in him, “The Great I Am”, to exalt in hope, to leap joyously upward. Although physical jumping is sometimes impossible or inappropriate, your soul can leap upward at any time. As you life your soul up to God in hopeful anticipation. God showers of joy falls upon and within you. The longer and more expectantly you wait in his presence, the more abundantly he can bless you. One way to enhance this transaction is to lift your wide open arms up towards God, as if you were celebrating a triumphant moment in your life. This posture expresses great joy, and God respond by filling your soul with more joy. This puts you on an upward spiral of rejoicing. If you want to verbalize your jubilation, one of the best ways is to speak, sing, or shout, for me I rejoice in singing Praises the Father in Heaven for who he is and for all he has done for me, because everyday is a blessing that comes from him. When some days become difficult for me to move forward I continue to praise him and be in prayer, and the Spirit will speak on my behalf when I cannot find the words.

Rejoice the soul of Your servant, for to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.

The God of All of Our Tomorrows

Isaiah 46.pngListen to me, you descendants of Jacob, all the remnant of the people of Israel, you whom I have upheld since your birth, and have carried since you were born. Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you: I will sustain you and I will rescue you. With whom will you compare me or count me equal? To whom will you liken me that we may be compared?  Isaiah 46:4-5

As I read these words this morning from the book of Isaiah, God is not just talking about just the descendants of Jacob. He is talking to all of his children even to all of us of today, that regardless of human beings aging over time, he is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. God compassions never fails, they are new every morning. You and I can begin each day confidently, knowing that his vast reservoir of blessings is full to the brim. This knowledge helps us wait for him, entrusting our long unanswered prayers into God’s care ad keeping.  God assure you that not one of your prayers has slipped past him, unnoticed. He wants you to drink deeply from his fountain of limitless love and unfailing compassion. As you and I wait in his presence, these divine nutrients are freely available. You may drink without cost from the spring of water of life. Although many of our prayers remain unanswered, we can trust in his great faithfulness. God keeps all of his promises in his perfect way and timing. Among other things, God has promised to give you and me peace not as the world tries to give us but only true peace that comes from Jesus Christ, because in the middle of the craziness of the world our soul finds peace with the Master. Even through for all of us tomorrow is never promises to any of us however, it is a wonderful feel deep in our soul, that God is already there, and he has not forsaken any of his children.

You Do Have a Purpose in Life!

Philippians 1.jpgThe book of Philippians was written by the Apostle Paul to the church at Philippi which ranked among Paul’s favorites. This friendly and personal letter stresses that joy can be found in any situation. Paul delivers his own testimony on the meaning of his present life, encourages his readers, and tells us how to live in harmony with others and in obedience to God.

As Paul writes in this letter he tells the people how he thank God every time he remembers them. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Philippians 1: 3-6

Blessed are those who trust in the Lord, they are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they go right on producing delicious fruit.                          Jeremiah 17:7-8

Everything in our lives starts with God, it’s not about you. The purpose drive life which is written by Rich Warren a great author sheds some light to our purpose in life. The purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfillment, your peace of mind, or even your happiness. It’s far greater than your family, your career, or even your wildest dreams and ambitions. If you want to know why you were place on this plant, you must begin with God. You were born by his purpose and for his purpose. The search for the purpose of life has puzzled people for thousands of years. That’s because we typically begin at the wrong starting point-ourselves. If we begin to search for God with our whole hearts and minds in time he will reveal himself to you and thru times of prayer and scripture readings you will come to understand what God is calling you to do for his kingdom. It doesn’t matter your past at all, it doesn’t matter what education you have received as long as you have the willing heart he can and will use you. Many times people feel if they are chronically ill that God cannot use them, that is so wrong to believe in that one, it you have any type of handicap you cannot be use, I am here to tell you all you, all anyone needs is the willing heart to follow and believe me he will use you. Changing direction in life is not tragic–but losing passion in life is! Something happens along the way. Convictions to change the world downgrade to commitments to pay the bills. Rather than make a difference, we make a salary. Rather than look outward, we look inward. And we don’t like what we see!

But God is not finished with you yet. Oh you may think he is. You may think you’ve peaked. You may think he’s got someone else to do the job. If so, think again! The Bible says, “God began doing a good work in you, and I am sure he will continue it until it is finished when Jesus Christ comes again.  Philippians 1:6

Allow God to make the changes in your life for His purpose and not your own, don’t just go through the motions in your life, begin to live for Jesus as his follower, as his disciples and that is when you begin to live, not for yourselves but for Him the “Great I Am”

NEW YEAR

new-yearsToday is New Year’s Eve more than eight hours away here in my hometown to the started to a brand New Year. This is a time in our lives in which we can reflect over the past year, or even the past few years in our lives. If you could, would you change anything in your past, I know I would. As we begin to celebrate a New Year, this as well as everyday brand new day is a gift from God. You see yesterday is gone forever we can not go back and change a thing even thro we wish we could, to do over the mistakes we made in our lives would be great, but we can not. Tomorrow well, this is not promise to any of us here on earth. However today which is call P-R-E-S-E-N-T is our gift from God, and as I ask myself what will I do with such a wonderful gift that was given to me just for this one day, you can also ask yourself. The present is a gift from God, and what we do with it will be our gift back to God.

Each day we have hope from God and hope as things unfold in our own lives. As I began to search the scriptures with words of hope I come across many different ones. The first comes from the Old Testament in the book of Lamentations 3:25 The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him. Another is in the New Testament the book of Romans 12:12  Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Also Hebrews 6:19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus, who went before is, has entered on our behalf, He has become a high priest forever. God has promise you and me if we seek him with all of our hearts we will find him. Jesus tells us in Matthew 7:33-34 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. These are words of courage and of hope for me in my own journey each and everyday with our Lord. The baby we celebrated last week in a manager grows up and gives hope to all of his people. Jesus knows all to well how hard it is to live here on earth and their are days too many days that all of us would like to throw the towel in and just to give up. But my friend Jesus doesn’t want any of us to simply to give up with our life, it is all to precious for all.  When your life or even mine gets to hard for us and you wondered to yourself why should I bother, I am telling you this bring all your worries and cares to God himself. He understand your pain, your loneliness, your broken heart, he understands what it is like to be poor ( he was born surrounded with animals in a stable). He knows every sin that you and I have ever committed in our lives and what we will do in the future, and Jesus says to you,  My precious child, I love YOU. I concord death, I have defeated the enemy himself (Satan) and you have hope in me.  Here are some words to a song you can find on YOU Tube by Aaron Shust

I meet with you and my soul sings out, as your word throws doubt far away,

I sing to you and my heart cries, Holy Hallelujah, father, you’re near

My hope is in you Lord, all the day long, I won’t be shaken,

A peace that passes understanding is my song, and I sing my hope is in you Lord.

For me when life seems so difficult and overwhelming songs of Praises to my Lord, my voice lifts up to sing, and then all my troubles seems so far away, as I turn my eyes towards Jesus and I once again have the hope that he has promise to me.
