Through the Pain I Am Holding On to “I Am”

1Peter 5.pngThe righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them, he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all, he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken. Evil will slay the wicked, the foes of the righteous will be condemned. The Lord will rescue his servants, no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.                    Psalm 34:17-22

There are times in our lives that we cry out in pain to you Lord, and we wonder if you care and if you understand the pain that we as humans must endure while living here on the earth. With broken relationships in one way or another, the loss of a job, our home, and even the loss of someone we have loved so much leaves us here on earth the pain is so overwhelming inside of us and all we long for is that the pain we feel will go away and that we can feel joy once again, and to rejoice you no matter how we maybe feeling deep within our souls.

We need to remind ourselves that you God are high and exalted one whose name is Holy Yet you choose to dwell with people who are contrite and lowly of spirit. You do know how prone to pride that your people are, so you provide a variety of circumstances to humble us. We don not need to look for more ways to become more humble. If we try with all of our might to be lowly of spirit, we are more likely to become proud, or even ridiculous. Instead, we need to be on the lookout for what you are doing in our own lives and yield ourselves to your ways Lord. Our focus should not be on how humble we are but on how we can please you in the present moment.

Through seeking you Lord and opening up to you I shall experience your light that shines upon me and within me. I need to allow these healing rays soak deep into my being, so that you  continue blessing me, it will allow this source of blessings to other people. By letting my humble hurting parts be exposed, I allow your light Jesus to shine through me into others’ lives, even thro my pain in so deep within me. When I experience a divine reversal in my life, I am thrilled to observe how masterfully that you operate in the world. My suffering gains meaning because I know that you can and do bring good out of evil. Ultimately, your plans Lord will not be thwarted, you have the last word, for you are the Alpha and the Omega! Lord your wisdom and you ways I get to see a glimpse of your glory even here on earth. These things in which I do see around me allows me to worship you for who you truly are the “Great I Am”, and I bow before you in worship, I have assurance one again of your unfailing love for me, and I begin to remember the words that are imprinted upon my heart “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans not to harm but give me a hope and a future, (Jeremiah 29:11) and as hard it seems to me in understanding I simply just need to “Trust” which has always been a difficult one for me to do at times.

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

John 14c.png

Jesus is preparing his disciples for when is to die and leave them behind, read his words from the Gospel of John 14:23-27  “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them and make our home with them. Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me. All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

When we die, we leave everything we own behind. But we also leave behind memories, traditions, experiences and relationships. Sometimes there are small gifts, treasures and photos.

Jesus had no possessions to leave behind. But he had other things that would never spoil and were more precious than anything else. One of them was peace. When conflict was rife outside the Upper Room; while violence was being planned; when death was knocking at the door, Jesus gave them peace.

This was the peace created by complete trust in the presence of God. It was absolute faith in His omnipotence and the acceptance of His holy will. It was also Christ’s own peace. By this gift of peace, He gave them something of himself. He knew they would be confronted with danger, opposition, suffering and even death. They would need peace more than anything else.

Open up your heart now to receive Jesus’ gift. Like the disciples, you probably need them more than anything else. If you are grappling with problems, confusion, opposition, resistance, ridicule, temptation, loneliness, pain or suffering, cling with all your might to this gift that Jesus gave his disciples. Allow his peace to calm your anger. Allow his peace to take over prejudices, your doubts and your grievances. Let it take over your entire attitude, your speech and your relationships. And whenever possible, give this peace away to someone else. The more of it you give away, the more it grows inside of you.

Through the Eyes of God

James 4b.pngNow listen, you who say, Today or tomorrow we will go to this city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money. Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that. As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it sin for them.    James 4:13-17

Have you ever taking the time to think of how God sees you? I would say we have all been guilty of this as well, because we can see the good in others, there talents, but when we come to us to see what God sees our view and opinion of ourselves falls pretty short. I believe that this happens after we have been hurt by another, from a situation that takes place in our lives we begin to believe the lies from the devil himself, I am not good enough. The way you see your life shapes your life. Your perspective will influence how you invest your time, spend your money, use your talents, and value your relationships. I have read more than once the book call The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren a well known author, if you haven’t read it as of yet I do encourage you to do so. As Rick Warren shares in his book, we don’t know all the test God will give us, but we can predict some of them, based on the Bible. You will be tested by major changes, delayed promises, impossible problems, unanswered prayers, undeserved criticism, and even senseless tragedies. I know that in my own life that God test my faith in many ways, through having a chronic ill child, times of challenges in my marriage, the disappointments I went through with people, but during these times my faith gets tested over and over again of being faithful to my Creator, my Lord and Savior, and through these times as I look back on my life I have grown closer to Christ more than I could ever image I would be able to do. Every time you or I pass a test, God notices and makes plans to reward you in eternity. In the book of James he tells us “Blessed are those who endure when they are tested. When they pass the test, they will received the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.                                                                                                   Our culture today says, “If you don’t own it, you will not take care of it. But Christians live by a higher standard, “Because God owns it, I must take the best care of anything I have because all gifts are a blessing from God, in other words everything and I mean everything I have and own comes from God and God alone. Rick shares with us in his book that Christians should carry spiritual cards (called a green card), to remind us that our citizenship is in heaven. God says his children are to think differently about life from the way unbelievers do, all they do is to worry about life here on earth, and for us as Christians is to look forward to the day when we are reunited with the Risen Lord Jesus Christ. If you are not sure how God sees you and how precious you are to him, a simply suggestion for you to do is ask him, and believe me he will tell you. He loves you so much that he sent his one and only son Jesus into this world to die for us all so that we will never be separated from him once we leave this world. Remember when life gets hard and really hard for you, and you are overwhelmed with doubt, remember you are not home yet, and when the time comes and it will in a blink of an eye you will return home to the Father, “The Great I Am”
