You Belong to God

Ephesians 2b.pngConsequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

Ephesians 2:19-22

You are called to belong, not just believe. When we read in the book of Genesis it is not good for man to be alone. We are created for community, fashioned for fellowship, and formed for a family, and none of us can fulfill God’s purpose by ourselves. The Bible knows nothing of solitary saints or spiritual hermits isolated from other believers and deprived of fellowship. The Bible says we are put together, joined together, and held together, members together, heirs together, fitted together, and held together and will be caught up  together. You are not on your own anymore. While your relationship to Christ is personal, God never intends it to be private. In God’s family you are connected to every other believer, and we will belong to each other for eternity. I am sure there are many of you out there longing to be a part of a family, having your own family, and without you even knowing that once you accept Christ into your heart you have been connected to the rest of his family. Following Christ includes belonging, not just believing. We are members of his Body–the church. C.S. Lewis noted that the word membership is of Christian origin, but the world has emptied it of its original meaning. Stores offer discounts to “members” and advertisers use member names to create mailing list. In churches, membership is often reduced to simply adding your name to a roll, with no requirements or expectations. To Paul, being a “member” of the church meant being a vital organ of a living body, an indispensable, interconnected part of the Body of Christ. We need to recover and practice the biblical meaning of membership. The church is a body, not a building, an organization. Whenever a child is born, he or she automatically becomes a part of the universal family of human beings. But that child also needs to become a member of a specific family to receive nurture and care and grow up healthy and strong. The same is true spiritually. When you become born again, which means flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. (John3:5) you need to become a member of a local expression of God’s family the church, his church. The Christian life is more than just commitment to Christ, it includes a commitment to other Christians. The Christians in Macedonia understood this, Paul tells us, “First they gave themselves to the Lord, and then, by God’s will they gave themselves to us as well. Joining the membership of a local church is the natural next step once you’ve become a child of God. You become a Christian by committing yourselves to Christ, but you become a church member by committing yourselves to a specific group of believers. And believe me being a part of a church, the family of true believers makes our journey in life a little easier to bear with that family and with God.

Record My Misery, Oh My God!

Psalm 56,.pngBe merciful to me, my God for my enemies are in hot pursuit, all day long they press their attack. My adversaries pursue me all day long, in their pride many attacking me. When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God whose word I praise–in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? All day long they twist my words; all their schemes are for my ruin. They conspire, they lurk, they watch my steps, hoping to take my life. Because of their wickedness do not let them escape; in your anger, God bring the nations down. Record my misery; list my tears on your scroll—are they not in your record? Then my enemies will turn back when I call for help. By this I will know that God is for me. In God, whose word I praise, in the Lord, those word I praise–What can man do to me? I am under vows to you my God; I will present my thank offerings to you. For you have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of my life.                                                 Psalm 56

There are many times in your life I am sure, as well as in my that we cry ourselves to sleep because of some kind of physical or emotional pain deep within our spirit. We begin to wonder God are you out there somewhere, why does my heart cry out in pain, doesn’t anyone understand, and believe me at times we simply don’t understand it all. We are in the grief period of time in our lives and we seek for some compassion and understanding from you, Oh God. If we are still and Know that I am God (Psalm 46:10) we can hear that no matter what trials you or I are enduring, we can count on God’s love and his compassion to get us through. God can bring good out of everything he allows in our life, but much of what he can do is far beyond our understanding. When adversity strikes, we tend to feel as if God displeased with us. We just don’t realize that God most devoted followers are especially targeted in spiritual warfare. The devil and his demonic underlings delight in tormenting those who lives close to the Risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. When we are going through times of suffering and afflictions. and our troubles seem endless, we need to remember that Jesus is tenderly present in our afflictions. Instead of lamenting the way things are search for Jesus in the wreckage of adversity. You or I will not fail to find the Master when we do search for him with our whole hearts.

THE ARMOR OF GOD

Isaiah 43 a.jpgBut now, this is what the Lord says, he who created you Jacob, he who formed you, Israel. Do not fear, for I have redeemed you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.                                                       Isaiah 43:1-2

Through you go thru difficulty times, God always shows compassion on his children. No matter what trials that you are facing at this very moment, you can count on God’s love and his compassion to see you thru. There are many times during the life of a Christian that we seem to face so many difficult times, and believe me when I tell you that you can feel that you are being attack from every side. When one problem in your life seems to arise and you feel that you have handle it, guess what here comes another, and then another for any of us, and guess what we are being attack. If we take a look into the book of Ephesians Chapter 6:10-17 the Apostle Paul tells us we need to put on the Full Armor of God and he is why: “Finally be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full Armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggles is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything to stand. Stand firm, with the belt of truth buckles around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

These words from Paul I continue to remind myself on a daily basis to get thru the day. You see is that Satan cannot stand for us to have a walk with the Risen Lord Jesus Christ, he loves to tear families apart anyway he possibly can, he wants to destroyed anyone lives by his lies he tells to anyone, however we cannot let him to it. This is why all of us need to put on the Full Armor of God each and everyday of our lives here on earth. It is very important for all of us to stay in the word of God not just when we feel like it, but everyday because when we don’t feel like to read that one day that is when Satan will attack us so that we become lazy and off track but we cannot let him, he may win a battle now and then however in the end HE WILL NEVER WIN THE WAR, Good will always win over evil, you just need to remember that. When you are suffering and your troubles seem endless, remember that Jesus is tenderly present in your afflictions. Instead of lamenting the way things are, search for Jesus in the wreckage of adversity. You will not fail to find the Risen Lord when you search for him with all of your heart. Jesus wants his children to experience more fully the greatness of his overflowing love. As you open yourself to his compassionate presence, this love flows into you more freely. We need to continue to stay in fellowship with Christ as well as with other Christians to continue to grow and to be able to serve one another. As you and I stay focus on our Risen Lord while go thru our trials they will not drown us or overcome us in anyway. Pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Difficult Times

James 4.jpgThere are many times in the life of a Christian that we go through difficult times, and sometimes it seems that at every corner we are being attack spiritual, and it is when we know that we are the words of James comes to my mind. James 4:8 Come near to God and he will come near to you, as well as Jeremiah 6:16 This is what the Lord says; Stand at the crossroads and look, ask for the ancient paths; and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. Instead of us running from our Lord we need to run as fast as we can towards him, to rest our tired soul. When we are feeling sad, Jesus wants us to anticipate feeling joyful again. This takes the sting out of our sorrows, because we know it is only temporary what we are going thru. Sadness tends to duplicate itself along the timeline-convincing us that we will always be unhappy. But that is a lie! Jesus is telling us to turn away from the lies we are hearing and to turn to him and more important to trust him and all that he has promised us. The truth is, all of his children have infinite joy ahead of them, reserved in heaven, guaranteed through-out eternity. No one can take this away from us, which is wonderful to know. While we are journeying towards heaven, our earthly path has many ups and downs. Through your down times are uncomfortable, they are not worthless. Pain and struggle can be highly productive when we trust Jesus in the midst of our sufferings. Our anguish is comparable to a woman enduring labor pains. Her suffering is very real, and she wonder how much longer she can bear this pain, and this is the way we truly feel at times. However, all this agony produces a wonderful result-a newborn baby. The memories of her suffering retreat to the background of her mind as she begins to focus on her child. While we labor through earthly afflictions we need to keep our eyes on the promised reward in Jesus, and the wonderful joy we do have in knowing him no matter what we are going thru.
