What To Do When You Can’t Find Thankful (Guess Blogger)

Gratitude is not always second nature. There are days when it seems all hope is lost. One of those everything that could go wrong did go wrong type of a day and rock bottom turned out to be a few feet lower than you thought.
Finding God’s grace in struggles can be a challenge but it is possible. There are times you feel like you cannot find thankfulness. Regardless how devastating the struggle or if you are just drawing a blank there is always something to be thankful for.
There are many places you can look to count things to be thankful for. Go to your facebook news feed and rejoice with those who are rejoicing. Did someones daughter take their first step? Did someones son graduate high school? Thank God for the family and the blessing. Still in need of more ideas? Head to the Bible. Thank God for the miracles, the stories told, the lessons learned, who He is, and His promises.

Worship music is a nice way to shift our perspective from us, our thoughts, sorrows, etc. to a Godly and heavenly perspective. Additionally, sometimes in the search for gratitude one simply needs to remember to take care of themselves, eating right and sleeping. Listening to others encounters with Christ and stories of His goodness encourages gratitude within. Sometimes we need to take time out to tend to our weary souls.
What do you do when it feels nearly impossible to find something to be thankful for?

“Know this: my God will also fill every need you have according to His glorious riches in Jesus the Anointed, our Liberating King.” Philippians 4:19
Jehovah Jireh (God My Provider),
From the moment, I open my eyes at the break of day till the time the sunsets You provide. Daily, You provide me with food, clean water, shelter, clean air, and clothing. You surround me with lovely people whom I cherish. People who challenge me to grow closer to You, people who make me think, and people who support me. A wonderful church family. You have given me purpose each day air kisses my lungs.

Daily, You provide me with just enough to thrive. Enough strength, determination, compassion, love, and grace. You have provided the beauty of nature.
You have provided me with a thriving relationship with You. Blessed me with the Scriptures and the gift of prayer. You have blessed me way beyond my comprehension. The Struggle Of Our Today (Guess Blogger)

worried-girl-413690_960_72022

“We’ll tell you about our broken places of yesterday but don’t dare admit the limitations of our today.” Lysa Terkeurst.
Wow. These words are heavy, exposing the truth. It is easier to talk about the past. How we have overcome trials demonstrating our own persistence and strength. Of course, from time to time we will include God, most times as a hero who swept in and saved the day. Rescuing us from the storm.
But talking about today? Being transparent; honest? That is a different story. It takes guts. We like to appear to the world as having it all together. As if we can accomplish this insane to do list, save the world, and be home for supper. In reality, we are falling apart- most people are facing limitations daily, which could be illness, addiction, family disputes, or finances.

With a chronic illness, we act often. Taking on the role of a healthy and normal individual in order to blend in or make others happy. A friend asks how we are… and too often, we smile straight up telling a lie, “I’m doing great”…. Desperately we even debate which lies to tell our doctor. What is worth sharing? Will he or she believe me? Is it worth the frustration? It is challenging, to be honest, and the individual that God created us to be. Isolation closes in on us; as we swim in the sea of invisible illness

Without a doubt, there is a time and a place for everything. God’s word echo’s this in Ecclesiastes 3:1, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” At times taking on a role has its advantages, and at other times, it is downright damaging. There is also a time for raw honesty. “You weren’t designed to go through suffering alone. As times get tough — and they will — reach out and reach up. “You weren’t designed to go through suffering alone. As times get tough — and they will — reach out and reach up,” Rick Warren. Putting yourself out there is scary. Sharing your heart is healthy. By sharing with others, you become an inspiration and encouragement to others. Struggling does not make you weak, it makes you human.

Additionally, we ask who can we be honest with. Lately, I seem to keep hearing the same message, we were not meant to do life on our own. We were made for community, not isolation. But in all honesty, it easier to say than do. Falling into isolation becomes easy with an illness. Most times, it is not intentional. We flare up, battle fatigue, and lose many friends. Having someone we can confide in about the struggles of today is rare. There are people who hurt us, leave us, and betray our trust.

friends-1305245_960_720.jpg

I think it is hard, to be honest in this way because we don’t want to be negative or a burden to others. At the same time, it is important to do so. Not only is it healthy, but it allows others to support us and specifically pray with us then allows us the chance to offer the same to them. Being honest allows us to share with others how God is working in our lives right now.

Personally, I have two friends who I can be brutally gut level honest with, knowing in my heart that no matter what they will still love me and will pray with me. Their friendship is a beautiful treasure. I hope you have at least one person who you can be honest with about the struggles of today.

Lord,

You are the God who sees us and knows us completely. Teach us how to be honest about the struggles of today. Bless us with people who we can share our burdens with and support. Allow us to continually bring glory to Your Holy Name.

Amen

Praise God For His Faithfulness (Guess Blogger)

I would like to introduce to you my next guest blogger Victoria:

Welcome, it is an honor you dropped by. I am Victoria. A twenty-something-year-old battling multiple chronic illnesses while learning how to thrive. Chronically Hopeful was designed to educate others and to provide support to those who are chronically ill. Proving encouragement to others is essential to me. I share about my health on here. My major illnesses are Lupus, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, and Ulcerative Colitis. I want to share my story with you hoping you will experience support; that someone else understands your pain, struggles, and frustrations.

“How enduring is God’s loyal love; the Eternal has inexhaustible compassion. Here they are, every morning, new! Your faithfulness, God, is as broad as the day.” Lamentations 3:22-23
Yahweh,
You are faithful even when I don’t feel You near. You are always with me. You are faithful even when my body or mind betrays me. When those I love reject me. You provide strength. Teaching me to be dependent on You. You are faithful, as the emotions run wild. Faithful even when the doctors fail. When isolation traps me. When my world is falling apart.
Lord Jesus, You are faithful in the smaller and bigger ways than I can imagine. Your faithfulness surpasses all understanding. Great and beautiful is Your unending faithfulness. You are my hope. Comfort. Provider.
Elohim God my creator knit my heart to Your. Guide me on the path You design especially for you before air kissed my lungs. I am Depend fully on You. The storm will rage, but I have a secure and faithful anchor. Fear has no place. In You, I have sweet victory. Your faithfulness remains the same.
Amen

THE ARMOR OF GOD

Isaiah 43 a.jpgBut now, this is what the Lord says, he who created you Jacob, he who formed you, Israel. Do not fear, for I have redeemed you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.                                                       Isaiah 43:1-2

Through you go thru difficulty times, God always shows compassion on his children. No matter what trials that you are facing at this very moment, you can count on God’s love and his compassion to see you thru. There are many times during the life of a Christian that we seem to face so many difficult times, and believe me when I tell you that you can feel that you are being attack from every side. When one problem in your life seems to arise and you feel that you have handle it, guess what here comes another, and then another for any of us, and guess what we are being attack. If we take a look into the book of Ephesians Chapter 6:10-17 the Apostle Paul tells us we need to put on the Full Armor of God and he is why: “Finally be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full Armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggles is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything to stand. Stand firm, with the belt of truth buckles around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

These words from Paul I continue to remind myself on a daily basis to get thru the day. You see is that Satan cannot stand for us to have a walk with the Risen Lord Jesus Christ, he loves to tear families apart anyway he possibly can, he wants to destroyed anyone lives by his lies he tells to anyone, however we cannot let him to it. This is why all of us need to put on the Full Armor of God each and everyday of our lives here on earth. It is very important for all of us to stay in the word of God not just when we feel like it, but everyday because when we don’t feel like to read that one day that is when Satan will attack us so that we become lazy and off track but we cannot let him, he may win a battle now and then however in the end HE WILL NEVER WIN THE WAR, Good will always win over evil, you just need to remember that. When you are suffering and your troubles seem endless, remember that Jesus is tenderly present in your afflictions. Instead of lamenting the way things are, search for Jesus in the wreckage of adversity. You will not fail to find the Risen Lord when you search for him with all of your heart. Jesus wants his children to experience more fully the greatness of his overflowing love. As you open yourself to his compassionate presence, this love flows into you more freely. We need to continue to stay in fellowship with Christ as well as with other Christians to continue to grow and to be able to serve one another. As you and I stay focus on our Risen Lord while go thru our trials they will not drown us or overcome us in anyway. Pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

There is Hope in God

Psalm 33.jpgWe wait in hope for the Lord, he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in you.                            (Psalm 33:20-22)

Oh God you are the Great I AM! For I put my hope in you and not just man or woman in this world. For you can turn something that was meant for evil and now it is good. Your master plan brings victory out of apparent defeat. For I look around in this world, a world that you have created to be good and we have turn it into a world that has so much pain. At times we feel so defeated with life itself, and our pain has become so deep within our souls. But Lord I know that you can bring beauty out of ashes of lost dreams, and you can bring pure joy out of our sorrows and pain. I believe that you are able to create beauty out of our brokenness and our struggles, for nothing is Impossible for God. You are the Great Physician, the Great Healer of everything in this world and we come to you with all of our pain. Lord we have been disappointment by others more time than we can ever count because we put our trust in them and not You, help us to always come to you first with these struggles of ours. We give you all of our sadness and our problems also, restore them to bring glory to your kingdom. Help us to have a closer walk with you not just every so often but have a walk with you each day, to be able to bring us pure joy here on earth.  Through the difficulties that we have in this world, I rejoice that you are always present with me, and I do not go thru this journey of mine alone. You are able to help me to cope with the pain I see all around me, and help me to trust in you more each day. When my day seems to become so overwhelming for me, help me to begin to Praise You and Worship you, for when I do my problems and struggles in my life is not important any more, just you Lord, My Lord and My Savior

Come to Jesus

Psalm 118 (5).jpgJesus tells us to come to him when we are hurting, and He will share our pain. Come to him when we are joyful and he will share our joy—multiplying it many times over. He invites you and me just as we are—no matter what shape or condition we are in. We don’t have to clean up our act first, since Jesus already knows the worst about us. When we are hurting you want to be with someone who understands you without condemning you. When you’re happy, you delight in being with someone who loves you enough to celebrate with you. He understands you compassionately and love us exuberantly, so bring more and more of yourself to him. Most people are selective about which parts of themselves they share with God. Some hesitate to bring him the traits they consider shameful. Others are so used to living with painful feelings–loneliness, fear, guilt that it never occurs to us to ask God for help in dealing with all of these things. Still others are so preoccupied with their struggles that they forget that he is always near. There are hurting parts of all of us that God desire to heal. However, some of them have been with us so long that we consider them a part of our own identity. We carry them wherever we go, little awareness. On occasions when you have brought some damaged portion of yourself to him, he will help us to walk with new found freedom. However we are so addicted to certain painful patters that  we cannot break free from them. Only repeatedly exposing them to God’s healing Presence will bring us all to long- term freedom. When that happens we will be released to   experience Joy in much fuller measure. Jesus will share with all of our Joys and multiply it many times over for you and me.

Strength

Proverbs 31In the book of Proverbs 31 the author speaks about the wife of a noble character, as I read these words about a wife strength it is not just for a wife, however it is for any and ever woman who deals with a lot in her life.

She is clothed with strength and dignity, she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Many woman do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting, but  woman who fears the Lord is be praise. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.    Proverbs 31:23-31

These words from the book of Proverbs is for all woman, there are many women who have been both mother and father. Who had no choice but to work a full time job as well as run a household and raise children. There also some who decided to return to school to better themselves with a better paying job, and you have come to realize the strength you truly have. There are some who care for someone sick and you have become the caregiver sometimes twenty-four hours a day, and yet some have to deal with your own personal pain and struggles in life. When those days become somewhat difficult for you to bear turn to God’s word and pray for your strength to get you thru each moment of your day. Remember these words in proverbs you are clothed with dignity, and your strength comes from God.
