Are You Able?

Jeremian 32.jpgIn the Gospel of Matthew a man came up to Jesus and ask “Teacher , what good thing must I do to get eternal life? Why do you ask me about what is good? Jesus replied, There is only One who is good. If you want to eternal life, keep the commandments.” Which ones? he inquired. Jesus replied. “You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother, and love your neighbor as yourself. All things I have kept, the young man said. “What do I still lack? Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth. The Jesus said to his disciples. “truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven, Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God”. When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved”? Jesus looked at them and said. “With man this impossible, bit with God all things are possible.”

Matthew 19:16-26

There are many people even Christians that are not willing to change their lives for Jesus, for me at times it is hard to understand how they would not be willing. We have become a nation that is so focus on material things and not spiritual things. For whatever reason everyone one wants the fancy cars, bigger houses, more vacation time, become work alcoholic and never spend anytime with their families and why because we have to have everything we see, guess what everyone we have created monsters within our own children.  With each passing generations most families spend less and less time with each other, eat fast food instead of someone preparing a meal and sit down at a dinner table and have good old-fashion table talk. There is a lot to be learn when doing so, learning about your child that God has created. We as adults are not teaching our children to have a personal relationship with Christ, and for the most part it is because most adults do not either. Instead of taking sometime out of their busy lives on a Sunday and spending time worshipping our Heavenly Father, they have become too busy for God, guess what when the day you leave this world, where do you think that you will be spending eternally with God? You better think of a better answer because God may said too most of us here on earth, sorry I am too busy for you, come back another time and there is not another time for you, it will be too late. However when we do decide to accept Jesus into our hearts as our Lord and Savior, we begin to seek and by seeking I mean read scriptures and a pray life with God. And overtime God changes us from the inside out, like Jesus tells us with man it is impossible to do that on our own, however with God all things are possible. So what are you waiting for start now, remember no one is promise tomorrow, it just maybe too late for some.

You Do Have a Purpose in Life!

Philippians 1.jpgThe book of Philippians was written by the Apostle Paul to the church at Philippi which ranked among Paul’s favorites. This friendly and personal letter stresses that joy can be found in any situation. Paul delivers his own testimony on the meaning of his present life, encourages his readers, and tells us how to live in harmony with others and in obedience to God.

As Paul writes in this letter he tells the people how he thank God every time he remembers them. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Philippians 1: 3-6

Blessed are those who trust in the Lord, they are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they go right on producing delicious fruit.                          Jeremiah 17:7-8

Everything in our lives starts with God, it’s not about you. The purpose drive life which is written by Rich Warren a great author sheds some light to our purpose in life. The purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfillment, your peace of mind, or even your happiness. It’s far greater than your family, your career, or even your wildest dreams and ambitions. If you want to know why you were place on this plant, you must begin with God. You were born by his purpose and for his purpose. The search for the purpose of life has puzzled people for thousands of years. That’s because we typically begin at the wrong starting point-ourselves. If we begin to search for God with our whole hearts and minds in time he will reveal himself to you and thru times of prayer and scripture readings you will come to understand what God is calling you to do for his kingdom. It doesn’t matter your past at all, it doesn’t matter what education you have received as long as you have the willing heart he can and will use you. Many times people feel if they are chronically ill that God cannot use them, that is so wrong to believe in that one, it you have any type of handicap you cannot be use, I am here to tell you all you, all anyone needs is the willing heart to follow and believe me he will use you. Changing direction in life is not tragic–but losing passion in life is! Something happens along the way. Convictions to change the world downgrade to commitments to pay the bills. Rather than make a difference, we make a salary. Rather than look outward, we look inward. And we don’t like what we see!

But God is not finished with you yet. Oh you may think he is. You may think you’ve peaked. You may think he’s got someone else to do the job. If so, think again! The Bible says, “God began doing a good work in you, and I am sure he will continue it until it is finished when Jesus Christ comes again.  Philippians 1:6

Allow God to make the changes in your life for His purpose and not your own, don’t just go through the motions in your life, begin to live for Jesus as his follower, as his disciples and that is when you begin to live, not for yourselves but for Him the “Great I Am”

Possibilities

Matthew 19.jpgJust then a man came up to Jesus and asked, ” Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life? “Why do you ask me about what is good? Jesus replied. There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.” Which one? he inquired, Jesus replied , You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother, and love your neighbor as yourself. All theses I have kept, the young man said, “What do I still lack? Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go sell your possessions, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me. When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth. Then Jesus said to his disciples, ” Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter in the kingdom of heaven, Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God? When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked,” Who then can be saved ? Jesus looked at them and said, ” With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”           Matthew 19:16-26

Wow as we read these words from the book of Matthew it is a lot to understand what is going on here. First off we can not worship God and money, it is one or the other. As you can remember when God gave Moses the ten commandments which is in the book of Exodus 20:1-21 God spoke these words You shall have no other Gods before me. It is only by God’s grace that any of us are saved, thru Jesus being crucified on the cross for all mankind. Our sins have separated us from God however Jesus bridge the gap between us and God. As we also read in Genesis 18:14 Is anything too hard for the Lord?  the answer is no. Long after child bearing years Abraham’s wife Sarah had a child called Isaac, everyone including Sarah thought it is impossible, yes for man but not for God. All thru scriptures we can read all the wonders that God has done, as well as he continues to do for us today. I remember when I was first married and I long to become a mom however, the doctors didn’t give me and my husband much hope, my answer that I told my doctor at that time, I don’t know how or I don’t know when that God will bless us with a child. And within two months I was carrying a child and gave birth to a baby girl on my own birthday. We all seem to forget that we serve an Awesome God, the Great I Am, our Creator, and their is nothing impossible for him to do. I remember the year my daughter was born and I wanted to help with the children’s program at my church during the summer called vacation bible school, everyone told me it was impossible. I stood up and said I can not find the word can’t anyone in scriptures It say I can do all things thru Christ who gives me strength Philippians 4:13. From then on and for more than fifteen years I directed the program. It wasn’t me but God working thru me to do his will and believe me I love every moment of it. You see children always have faith even when we as adults don’t understand but they do, that yes God exists and that God can do anything.

Strength in Christ

phillipians 4.pngThe Apostle Paul wrote the book of Philippians to the church at Philippi. His personal letter stresses the joy that can be found in any situation in our lives even today. Paul delivers his own testimony on the meaning of his life, encourages his readers and instructs them on living in harmony with others and in obedience to God.

In Philippians 4:13 Paul states that I (we) can do all things thru Christ who gives me (us)strength. Some of you just might be thinking, Paul is not living in times like this or going thru what I am going thru right at this moment. Let me share with you, being a Christian in Biblical times was never easy. Paul whose  real name was Saul and he did at one time in his own life persecute all Christian. If you go to the book of Acts in the New Testament chapter 9 you will read this story of Saul. As he near his journey on the road to Damascus, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him (Saul). He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? “Who are you Lord? Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting, he replied. Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do. And so Saul did what Jesus instructed him to do, he later became Paul, a great follow of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus never promise to any of us that once we accepted Him as our own personal Lord and Jesus that we would never go through trials, in order for us to appreciate being on the mountain tops when also must endure the valleys in our lives. Look to the book of Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. I personal don’t know your own struggles that you are dealing with but God does, he hears your silent cries you cry on your pillow at night, as you tried to make sense of it all. I personally deal with a child who is chronic ill with having lupus as well as a few other autoimmune diseases and it is never easy. It took us more then ten years of going from doctor to doctor to try to find out what was making my child so sick. From over the last couple of years from almost dying from the disease, and what ever I have to go thru as a caregiver I draw my strength from God. How so you may ask, from always being in God’s word on a daily basis, sometimes more than once a day. From every doctor visit, hospital visit, or test that she must endure and even chemo, I always carry my bible with me, and before we enter to that facility of whatever needs to get done on her, we both stop in my car and ask God for his strength to open the eyes of the doctors to see what he already knows what is going on in her body, and more important to give us his peace. As you read in John 14:27 Jesus said to his follows: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you, I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your heart be troubled and do not be afraid.  My own strength that I do have from being a caregiver only and I mean only comes from God. All of her doctors are two hours away, (one way) and their have been many, many times, driving to a hospital in the middle of the night with her because that is what she needed, for having maybe a hour of sleep caring for the rest of my family or any other responsibility that I may have, I know that my strength comes from the Living God, the Great I Am. So the next time you feel that you can take another step in your life open up your Bible to get a boost of energy.

Prayer: Dear Lord

I do not know the challengers that your children must go thru but I know you do, O Lord. I ask you to give them the Peace that can only come from you as well as the strength to handle anything. Help to remind them that you are The Great Healer, The Great Physician and the Great I Am, and victory will be your now and forever.

Amen
