Waiting on God

Psalm 27.jpgAll of us have hard times at some point in our lives, or even at many points for a few of us. For unbelievers there is absolutely nothing solid to lean on for strength. How often are we reminded how temporary and insubstantial the things we trust in really are? People fail us, memories and health decline, things get old and break, stock markets crash. But if we find strength in the Lord, we will never be disappointed. He never fails, declines, ages, or loses value. And he has given much to have a relationship with us. But he wants it to be an honest relationship, with nothing hidden or falsely represented-no creative online profiles. He wants to know when we are unhappy and when we are happy, when we are in distress and when we are excited, when we’re in a loving mood and when we’re downright angry. In short, he wants with us the kind of relationship he has with his Son Jesus Christ.

When at times I found that it is hard to “Wait on God” my mind wanders to the book of Psalm in which this chapter King David wrote in chapter 27: The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life-of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. Through an army besiege me, my heart will not fear, through war break out against me, even  then I will be confident. One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. For in the day of trouble he will keep me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock. Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy, I will sing and make music to the Lord. Hear my voice when I call Lord; be merciful to me and answer me. My heart says of you .”Seek his face”! Your face, Lord, I will seek. Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, God my Savior. Through my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me. Teach me your ways, Lord, lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors. Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witness rise up against me, sprouting malicious accusations. I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord, be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

So on this day Lord I wait patiently for you, to guide me where you shall lead me, even thro I may be scare I remember these word from Proverbs: Trust in the Lord with all of my heart, and lean not on my own understanding, in all my ways acknowledge him and he will direct my path. (Proverbs: 3:5:6)

You Do Have a Purpose in Life!

Philippians 1.jpgThe book of Philippians was written by the Apostle Paul to the church at Philippi which ranked among Paul’s favorites. This friendly and personal letter stresses that joy can be found in any situation. Paul delivers his own testimony on the meaning of his present life, encourages his readers, and tells us how to live in harmony with others and in obedience to God.

As Paul writes in this letter he tells the people how he thank God every time he remembers them. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Philippians 1: 3-6

Blessed are those who trust in the Lord, they are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they go right on producing delicious fruit.                          Jeremiah 17:7-8

Everything in our lives starts with God, it’s not about you. The purpose drive life which is written by Rich Warren a great author sheds some light to our purpose in life. The purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfillment, your peace of mind, or even your happiness. It’s far greater than your family, your career, or even your wildest dreams and ambitions. If you want to know why you were place on this plant, you must begin with God. You were born by his purpose and for his purpose. The search for the purpose of life has puzzled people for thousands of years. That’s because we typically begin at the wrong starting point-ourselves. If we begin to search for God with our whole hearts and minds in time he will reveal himself to you and thru times of prayer and scripture readings you will come to understand what God is calling you to do for his kingdom. It doesn’t matter your past at all, it doesn’t matter what education you have received as long as you have the willing heart he can and will use you. Many times people feel if they are chronically ill that God cannot use them, that is so wrong to believe in that one, it you have any type of handicap you cannot be use, I am here to tell you all you, all anyone needs is the willing heart to follow and believe me he will use you. Changing direction in life is not tragic–but losing passion in life is! Something happens along the way. Convictions to change the world downgrade to commitments to pay the bills. Rather than make a difference, we make a salary. Rather than look outward, we look inward. And we don’t like what we see!

But God is not finished with you yet. Oh you may think he is. You may think you’ve peaked. You may think he’s got someone else to do the job. If so, think again! The Bible says, “God began doing a good work in you, and I am sure he will continue it until it is finished when Jesus Christ comes again.  Philippians 1:6

Allow God to make the changes in your life for His purpose and not your own, don’t just go through the motions in your life, begin to live for Jesus as his follower, as his disciples and that is when you begin to live, not for yourselves but for Him the “Great I Am”

Insomnia

Psalm 4.jpgFor all of us at one time of another we seem to have trouble with sleeping thru the night, rather it is because of a dear one who is sick, being worried over bills, or the outcome of any situation, we just cannot sleep peacefully at night. For me when those times have come into my own life, I simply open the word of God and begin to read the following words in order to have a restful night.

In peace I will lie down and sleep for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.

Psalm 4:8

Yes, my soul, find rest in God, my hope comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation, he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God, he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him for God is our refuge.                      Psalm 62:6–8

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give your rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.       Matthew 11:28-30

He will cover you with feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge, his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.                          Psalm 91:1-4

Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.                                         Psalm 42:5

Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess.         Hebrews 3:1

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God, will surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Jesus Christ.

Philippians 4:6-7

Like an eagle that stirs up its nest, that hovers over its young, He spread His wings and caught them. He carried them on His aloft                        Deuteronomy 32:11

You are His Beloved. Although you experience many difficulties in your life, he shields you all day long. You cannot imagine what your life would be like if God was not protecting you continually. The adversity he does allow you to experience is ultimately for your good and His Glory. You can rest secure by trusting that God protective Presence is with you always, no matter what trials you may be enduring. You must be clear about one thing above all else: You are most assuredly the one that the Lord loves! In fact, He loves you so much that he carries  you through your toughest times. Beloved, you can rest between His shoulders like a lamb tenderly carried by its shepherd.

Sleep well God’s little children

Psalm 56.jpgWhen I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust and not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me Psalm 56:3-4                                                        In  God, whose word I praise, in the Lord, whose word I praise. In  God I trust and not afraid. What can man do to me? I am under vows to you, my God. I will present my thank offerings to you. For you have delivered me from death, and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.        Psalm 56:10-13

However, in you I will put my trust in you and not in humankind, for they have judge me and at times have unforgiven hearts. Psalm 25.pngIn you, Lord my God I put my trust. I trust in you, do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me. No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause. Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.                                 (Psalm 25:1-5 NIV)

It is a quiet morning Lord, as I listen to the song of the birds in which you have created, for our enjoyment. At times I cannot put my trust in people for they seem to always let me down. My trust is in you Lord and you alone will guide my footsteps in the direction you have given me. I am not sure of the path I am going just to know I do not walk it alone.  Many times I have question you, and I should not do that, because you are God, the God of yesterday, today and the God of tomorrow, who knows the direction for me. I do question my wisdom and knowledge to serve you in this way.  I have come to know this, the direction you have given me no man or woman can stop it or even try to change it, because you are God and you have the last word, and what I need to do is just trust simply trust You.

A Gift Called Grace Part 2

Grace part 2.pngWhere the grace of God is missed, bitterness is born                                                                   But where the grace of God is embraced, forgiveness flourishes.                                               The longer we walk in the garden,                                                                                                  the more likely we are to smell like flowers.                                                                                The more we immerse ourselves in grace, the more likely we are to give grace

( By Max Lucado: book called in the Grip of Grace)

I am not sure if you have had the opportunity to read any books by Max Lucado, if you haven’t I would recommend it very highly. I personal have read many of his books as watch him preach on television, and I truly enjoy his books and his preaching. Max talks about God’s amazing gift of Grace, and that gift is for all of us, so it doesn’t depend if we are smart enough, rich enough, living in the right neighbor, went to the right school it is for all mankind and believe me I am glad that it is. Yesterday’s posted I shared with all of you about Prevenient Grace that John Wesley the founder of the Methodist believe and the three aspects of grace. Now the second is:

Justifying Grace: The Grace that makes our brokenness whole. Justifying grace brings a big change to the relationship we have with God-it’s the present in which we are holding that we should open. Through justifying grace we begin to realize and trust (have faith) that we are restored to relationship with God. We come to acknowledge our sinfulness and trust that we are forgive by God’s grace. Just as justifying text in a document aligns it a certain way, justifying grace aligns us with God through Jesus Christ. To know God’s love in this way, to be touched by God’s justifying grace is a life-changing, life-rearranging experience. It creates in us an urgency to know God, to follow God’s way, and to trust that God is always with us. As poets and theologians often remind us there are many ways to realize and accept God’s justifying grace as there are ways to fall in love. For some people, it happens all at once “at first sight”. For others, it is gradual and cumulative, Some people comes to love eagerly, others need more time, fearing or resisting vulnerability. The way you come to receive God’s grace does not matter nearly as much as the truth of God reaching out to you with justifying grace and making you a new creation in Christ.

For myself I was raised as a Christian since the time of my birth, as a young adult I was always involved in my church one way or another. It was until a few years ago I began to search, truly search for myself, what in the world was I born for, and why am I here on earth. I began to search the scriptures, having more time with God thru my own prayer life then I realize the more I know of God, the more I had to know about him. I wanted to do deeper and deeper in understand who He is and His love for me as his child.  As I read these words that Paul wrote to Rome in the book of Romans 8:37-39

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels, nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
