God Cares For You!

1 Peter 5.png

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may life you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.          1 Peter 5:6-7

Remember God when you lie in bed, think of him through the watches of the night. When you are wakeful during the night, thoughts can fly at you from all directions. Unless you take charge of them, you are likely to become anxious. Your best strategy is to think about the Lord during your night watches. Start communicating with him about whatever is on your mind. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. God is taking care of you my friend. This makes it possible for you to relax and rejoice in the shadow of his wings.

When you remember him during the night, think about who God really is, He is the “Great I Am,”, the Alpha and Omega. Ponder him perfections: His love, joy and peace. Rejoice in his majesty, wisdom, grace and mercy. Find comfort in his names: Shepherd, Savior, Immanuel, Prince of Peace. Be awed by his power and glory, for he is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Thus you worship him and enjoy His presence. These thoughts of him will clear your mind, helping you see things from his perspective and refresh your entire being.

Here Am I, Send Me!

Isaiah 6.png

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple, Above him were seraphim, each with six wings. With two wings they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty, the world earth is full of his glory. At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. “Woe to me!” I cried. I am ruined. For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.” Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this as touched your lips, your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.” Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I, Se”nd Me!”                                Isaiah 6:1-8

These words are written by the prophet Isaiah. Although some prophets predicted future events their primary role was to call God’s people back to him. The most eloquent of the prophets, Isaiah, analyzed the failures of all nations, around him and pointed to a future Messiah who would bring peace to the nation and to the earth. After the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, he meet with the eleven disciples in Galilee, and told them what he expect them to do. “All authority is heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations.” Matthew 18-19. This is know as the Great Commission in the Gospel.

For anyone who personal knows me, you know that I have been on a journey in becoming a license local Pastor through the United Methodist Church. I can truly tell you and honestly say to you it has been a difficult one as well as a filling one, during these last few years, and yet I still have so much to learn. At times I have question God more than once, Lord, are you sure you have the right person for this job, one would think to say God knows what he is doing even when I do not. I have been bless to serve in churches while their own Pastor is away and even a few months while one was on sabbatical. I once was told by a Pastor as long as I have a willing heart God is able to use me, and he has at that. I have spent many hours in prayer and search the scriptures to try to understand what God’s will for my life is, and many times these words from the book of Isaiah comes to my mind, “Here AM I Lord, Send Me. Today before our service began someone had given me something in which he had written for me, as well as another young man on the same journey. As I read these words it once again confirm what God has called me to do.

JerryJerry 3  I may never know the person or persons I have touch along my journey, I ask our Lord to use me to share the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to all who wants to know. What I can share with any and all who reads these words that I write down on my blog, you are God’s most precious gift and He loves you, simply because you are His Child. God sent His one and only Son Jesus Christ into this world that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16) For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works so that no one can boast.             (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Time Alone With God

Psalm 63.png

You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you. I thirst for you, my while being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods, with singing lips my mouth will praise you. On my bed I remember you: I think of you through the watched of the night. Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings, I cling to you; your right hand upholds me will be destroyed; they will go down to the depths of the earth. They will be given over to the sword and become food for jackals. But the king will rejoice in God, all who swear by God will glory in him, while the mouths of liars will be silenced.

Psalm 63:1-11

Perhaps these days we can do with the advice Christ gives to us, because many of us don’t have a place for our quiet time, a quiet room where we can bear our souls to God. It’s not about the room, but about the quiet moments we spend alone with God. When I started my blog a little over two years ago it was because of a class in ministry that I was involved with, and after thinking about the name I came up with Quiet Moments With God. For myself I enjoy a good hot cup of tea, where I take my cup and my Bible head onto my back deck (if the weather is okay) and just be along with my Lord. Life is so demanding these days that we truly need the time along with him. We have a hundred responsibilities in and outside home, as well as our Christian activities, perhaps holding down a job and running around with our children. In many houses there is no such thing as a quiet room anymore.

Because of this, it is difficult to concentrate, introspection becomes rare and we don’t feel the need to withdraws from the buzz of the world as much, and to find strength in fellowship with God. We know that this results in spiritual impoverishment. We can only stay strong and powerful in our deepest being through solitary fellowship with God. When you are alone behind a closed door to escape from the world with its pressing problems you should not even leave the door ajar. If you do, you can be sure that the world will follow you and disturb your quiet time.

What it boils down to is that we need to have a closed door between us and the world outside. Even the presence of a best friend is a hindrance. If ever anyone knew how to pray it was Jesus, and yet He withdrew from the circle of His most trusted apostles to spend the entire night alone on a solitary mountaintop in prayer with His Father. This is what it means to ‘shut the door behind you.”

In the Gospel of Mark 1:35 he tells us that very early in the morning while it was still dark, Jesus got up left the house and went off to a solitary place to prayed. So if Jesus knew how important prayer was while he was here on earth, and how important to stay connected to His Heavenly Father is, shouldn’t we do the same.

Stay or Run Away

Psalm 55.pngMy heart is in anguish within me; the terrors of death have fallen on me. Fear and trembling have beset me, horror has overwhelmed me. I said, “Oh, that I had the wings of a dove! I would fly away and be a rest. I will flee far away and stay in the desert, I would hurry to my place of shelter, far from the tempest and storm.”  Psalm 55:4-8

The way in which one deals with problems will reveal much about one’s Christian character. The psalmist here point to two methods people use to deal with their problems. There is “flight” in which you try to escape or evade your problems. Then there is the “stand steadfast and trust the Lord” method in which we deal with our problems and overcome them in the name of the Lord.

Jonah started by running away, God sent him to Nineveh, at Joppa, he then brought his ticket for a voyage by boat to Tarshish, situated far away from his responsibilities. (Jonah Chapter 1 Old testament) But Jonah never reached Tarshish. There is no place on earth where we can escape our problems completely. Instead of solving his problems, Jonah only multiplied them. Once cannot escape from yourself, your responsibilities or your problems. When Jonah eventually chose the path of obedience and went to Nineveh to carry out his task, the Lord supported him with strength and he worked miracles in the name of the Lord

At one time or another we all face the temptation of trying to run away from our own problems or to sidestep our responsibilities. Even Jesus was confronted by temptation in the desert. However, He accepted God’s will for His life and did what He had to do. It we are obedient and faithful, if we trust God completely, He will support and help us.

You Can Not Hide From God!

Psalm 139.pngYou have searched me, Lord and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. Where can I go from your Spirt? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens you are there; if I make my bed in the depths; you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. I say. “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me.” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.                        Psalm 139:1-14

It is that time once again where many of us make New Year resolutions, where some of us say, I will exercise more, get plenty of rest, eat better than I have in the past, work more when I need to do so, and to slow down and smell the roses. Take the time for your friends and family, and try and not take anyone for granted, and more important is to learn to forgive more the way that Christ forgives each of us. However instead of making all these plans and not sticking to them what if we just learn to take one day as if it is a gift from God, because you know it truly is. Yesterday is gone forever we can not go backwards and change it, tomorrow, it is not promise to any of us, however today which is called P-R-E-S-E-N-T is God’s gift to all of us. If you and I begin each day with the thought that today is a gift, maybe we will look at life a little different. Remember no matter how we might want to change any part of our life that through it all Christ will be with us every step of the way. He was there when you life began in the womb of your mother and he will stay with you until the time that you return to him for all ever. It gives me such great comfort that there is no place I can hide that Christ couldn’t find me. because he is my Redeemer, my Savior, the Alpha and Omega, my friend, and more important he is the “Great I Am” and I am wonderfully made by him.

Feeling Broken Inside

Psalm 34 18a.pngThe righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Psalm 34:17-18

It has been a difficult day for so many saying good-bye to someone they love and trying to understand it all. We look to your scriptures Lord for words of comfort as well as one another, and we even look unto the heavens and ask you the great question of why! We truly don’t understand the Master’s plan in everything here on earth however we do ask for strength to move forward in life and the peace that only you can give to us. We know that we live in a fallen world where sin exists however that just doesn’t stop us by trying to understand it all. Words of comfort comes from the prophet Isaiah 40, Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary, his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and strengthens the powerless. Even youths will faint and be weary, and the young will fall exhausted; but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

The words of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I am the resurrection and the life. Then one who believes in me will live even through they die, and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.                                        John 11:25-26

Dear Lord, the God of us all, your love never ends, when all else fails, you still are God. We pray that you will care for each and everyone who are facing difficult moments in their lives of saying good-bye to their love ones, comfort each one and give them your peace. To all those who doubt, give light, to all those who are weak, give strength. To those who have sinned, show mercy.

In Christ Name I pray

Amen

Finding Rest In The Father

Exodus 33-14a.pngRest is something all of us truly need from time to time from everything we try to do, especially being sick you have no choice but to simply stay put and get some much needed rest. This is what has been happening over the last week I came down with a bad cold and laryngitis (my husband was glad to hear me being quiet for awhile)  I continue to have my devotion time alone with our Lord, and I can picture myself in my Father’s arms just resting from everything. These words touch my heart in the book of Exodus 33:14 The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”  God presence will go with me, and he gives me rest. Sometimes when you are quite weary, all you can think about is finding rest. As a result your awareness of God presence grows dim. He assures you and me, through, that even when our attention falters, God does remain steadfast. Rejoice that the One who always take care of you and me has an infinite attention span! You must be clear about one thing above all else: You are God’s child who loves you even when you are sick, and too tired to go on. In fact, he loves you and me so much that he carries us through our difficult times, and even when we are sick he is close to you. Beloved, child rest between his shoulders like a lamb being tenderly carried by its shepherd. In addition to being your Shepherd, God also is like an eagle caring for its young while they’re resting, and he watches over us constantly. When our strength fails as you are flying and you start to fall, He spreads his wings and catches you and me on them. He continues to carry you or me until we are ready to fly again. Until that times comes, I continue to find rest in the Father’s Arms
