Through the Eyes of God

James 4b.pngNow listen, you who say, Today or tomorrow we will go to this city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money. Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that. As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it sin for them.    James 4:13-17

Have you ever taking the time to think of how God sees you? I would say we have all been guilty of this as well, because we can see the good in others, there talents, but when we come to us to see what God sees our view and opinion of ourselves falls pretty short. I believe that this happens after we have been hurt by another, from a situation that takes place in our lives we begin to believe the lies from the devil himself, I am not good enough. The way you see your life shapes your life. Your perspective will influence how you invest your time, spend your money, use your talents, and value your relationships. I have read more than once the book call The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren a well known author, if you haven’t read it as of yet I do encourage you to do so. As Rick Warren shares in his book, we don’t know all the test God will give us, but we can predict some of them, based on the Bible. You will be tested by major changes, delayed promises, impossible problems, unanswered prayers, undeserved criticism, and even senseless tragedies. I know that in my own life that God test my faith in many ways, through having a chronic ill child, times of challenges in my marriage, the disappointments I went through with people, but during these times my faith gets tested over and over again of being faithful to my Creator, my Lord and Savior, and through these times as I look back on my life I have grown closer to Christ more than I could ever image I would be able to do. Every time you or I pass a test, God notices and makes plans to reward you in eternity. In the book of James he tells us “Blessed are those who endure when they are tested. When they pass the test, they will received the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.                                                                                                   Our culture today says, “If you don’t own it, you will not take care of it. But Christians live by a higher standard, “Because God owns it, I must take the best care of anything I have because all gifts are a blessing from God, in other words everything and I mean everything I have and own comes from God and God alone. Rick shares with us in his book that Christians should carry spiritual cards (called a green card), to remind us that our citizenship is in heaven. God says his children are to think differently about life from the way unbelievers do, all they do is to worry about life here on earth, and for us as Christians is to look forward to the day when we are reunited with the Risen Lord Jesus Christ. If you are not sure how God sees you and how precious you are to him, a simply suggestion for you to do is ask him, and believe me he will tell you. He loves you so much that he sent his one and only son Jesus into this world to die for us all so that we will never be separated from him once we leave this world. Remember when life gets hard and really hard for you, and you are overwhelmed with doubt, remember you are not home yet, and when the time comes and it will in a blink of an eye you will return home to the Father, “The Great I Am”

Another Chance

Jeremiah 15.jpgWe serve an Awesome God, he is a God who always gives us another chance, over and over again no matter how hard we seem to mess things up. Lets read the parable that Jesus shared in the Gospel of Luke on the Prodigal Son:

Luke 15:11-32 11 Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons. 12The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So ,he divided his property between them. 13″Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. 14 After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. 15 So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. 16 He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything. 17” When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18 I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ 20 So he got up and went to his father. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. 21″The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ 22″But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. 24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So, they began to celebrate. 25″Meanwhile, the older son was in the field. When he came near the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 So he called one of the servants and asked him what was going on. 27  Your brother has come,’ he replied, ‘and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound.’ 28″The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So, his father went out and pleaded with him. 29 But he answered his father, ‘Look! All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. 30 But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!’ 31″‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. 32 But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again he was lost and is found.

Why does Jesus tells us this parable in the Gospel of Luke it is because he is a God who is always willing to forgive you and me, regardless of our mistakes, and because he knows our heart. Perhaps as you are reading this right now, you are saying to yourself, I really mess up big this time, I can start over, God will never forgive me, I am not worthy of it. Yes God can and he does, we are always allow to begin over with each new day. You see my friend today is called “Present” which is a gift from God, and how you use it will be your gift back to God. Yesterday is done and over we can not change anything with it, tomorrow well, that is not promise to any of us at all but here we stand at a new day call “Present” use it wisely, and remember Jesus has already forgiven you, now forgive yourself of your mistakes.

The Family of God

1 John 3.pngGod is the One who made all things, and all things are for his glory. He wanted to have many children share his glory.             ( Hebrews 2:10a) (NCV)

In the book of the Purpose Drive Life by Rick Warren he tells us that we were formed for God’s family. God wants a family, and he created you and me to be a part of it. This is God’s second purpose for your life, which he planned before you or me where born. The entire Bible is the story of God building a family who will love him, honor him, and reign with him forever. It says, “His unchanging plan has always been to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. And this gave him great pleasure.” Because God is love, he treasures relationships. His very nature is relational, and he identifies himself, in family terms: Father, Son, and Spirit. The Trinity is God’s relationship to himself. It’s the perfect patter for relational harmony, and we should study its implications.

Isn’t this wonderful to know that we are part of a wonderful family, that in spite of any flaws in us we are simply accept because of God’s great love for ALL of his children. The moment you were spiritually born into God’s family, you were given some astounding birthday gifts, the family name, the family likeness, family privileges, family intimate access, and the family inheritance. The Bible says, “Since you are his child, everything he has belongs to you” (WOW) The New Testament gives great emphasis to our rich “inheritance.” It tells us, “My God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Jesus Christ.  As children of God we get to share in the family fortune. Here on earth we are given, the riches of his grace, kindness, patience, glory, wisdom, power and mercy. But in eternity we will inherit even more. Your inheritance is worth more than gold or silver, and that my friend is something to celebrate.

The storms in our lives can be very, and I mean very painful, and today early this morning thru my own tears of disappointment in human beings, these words I have sung many times before flood my mind. As I ask the why questions we all seem to ask sometime during our own life, why my Lord. Have I disappoint people in what I have done or perhaps of what I have said. The words in scriptures that have come to me more than once are as follows.

Then Peter came to Jesus and ask Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times? Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times but seventy-seven times. (Matthew 18:21-22) If we feel the need to ask forgiveness from God why then is it so difficult for humans to forgive one another. Why do we feel that it is okay to judge someone knowing we are totally far from perfect and we all have fallen short in so many ways. I praise God that he is a forgiving God especially with all of my faults and the many sins I have committed in the past or will in the future. I only wish people in general in all walk of life, would find it in their own heart to forgive each other.

God’s Plan

God's Plan.pngFor I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  (Jeremiah 29:11)

As I re-read these words from the book of Jeremiah this morning, I come to realize that God’s plans for my own life as well as for my children are never the same as I would ever thought they would be. As we are growing up we have so many dreams for our own lives, what type of career we would have, if we would marry or not, and how many children we would love to have and of course we would love to live at, the city, beach, mountains etc. However, we never could see or even image for any bumps along the journey of life. But, we all go thru it, rather it is a job loss or opportunity, to buying our own home, or even we are hit with any health issues for us or our family. As we are all going thru life how many times did we stop to ask God for his direction for our own lives, and have we truly listen to what he just might be saying to us. Have we put our children’s in the hands of God as well, yes we are their parents however God’s plans is always better than we can ever dream of or even imagine for us and even our children.

I remember learning that I was going to be a mom to my oldest daughter, the joy within me was wonderful, this was something I always wanted to be and that was a mom. My daughter and I are very close, as I little child before her brother came we always did everything together and I cherish each moment. I remember oh so well, dancing with her in my arms to her baby lullabies. I remember when she was on the back deck in her stroller looking at the trees and listening to the birds singing and she herself was laughing, they were bringing her joy. I realize then thru her eyes the beautiful world that God has created. As she was growing up she was sick so much and like any mom it breaks your heart when your child is ill. For many years we never knew what she had and more important to take her pain away. Then one day I heard the news from her doctor that she has lupus, I was shock, angry, I got mad, and how I wish it was me and not my child. As I was going thru scriptures I cried not knowing what I would do next, when I came across this scripture from Jeremiah 29:11. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord.” I knew then that God loves my daughter more than her dad and I would ever love her or even comprehend the love that God has for his children. I know that God has a plan for her life as well as my own, and his plan is so much better than ours. Even thro she is chronically ill God can still use her to glorified his kingdom. She runs a blog about all chronic illness, as well as a page on face book. She also leads more than one Bible study for woman on line, for the woman who is sick like her, some who are busy with life and family, and she has also written a book. A devotional and prayer book for thirty days which is called Honest Moments with God. I was once told by a pastor as long as you have the willing heart God will use you. Go to God, search thru scriptures as well as thru your daily prayers for God to share with you His Plans for your life, and believe me it is better than you can ever dream or imagine.
