Having Fear

             You and I live in a world where we all seemed to be fearful of someone or something which is a terrible way for us to live because we truly don’t have the peace within our soul and at times be so fearful of life in general it has caused so many of us to become sick. In his second letter to Timothy, which was written before his death, Paul offered his final words of guidance to his young assistance. He encourage Timothy to be faithful to Christ and true doctrine and to shun false teachers. He charged Timothy to preach the Word with patience and careful instruction. In 2 Timothy 1:6-7 Paul tells us For this reason I remind you to fan into the flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

Jesus goes before us, opening up the way. He will never leave or forsake you. Therefore, you will not be afraid or discouraged. He realize, through our feelings we often fail to submit to logic. So we need not to be surprise when our emotions rebel against our will. King David who was both a mighty warrior and a gifted poet often expressed fearfulness, trembling, and even over whelming horror in one of his psalms. Yet his trust if God was genuine and deep. ( A mam after God’s own heart) His life and his writings demonstrated that fear does not “trump” trust. They coexist. This is why David could proclaim, ” When I am afraid, I will trust in you.” Trust is a relational word. It’s one of the prime ways you and I can draw near to God. When we are afraid, don’t blame yourself for having that very human emotion. Instead, acknowledge what you are feeling, then affirm your trust in God either out loud or a whisper. This affirmation protects you from a lie that feeling fearful means you don’t trust God. Even better, it brings us consciously into God’s presence, where you and I can find comfort and hope, The light of God’s presence illuminates the vast dimensions of God’s love for you and for me of how wide and deep it really is. God’s love is that deep, and to know His love that surpasses our knowledge is so wonderful.
