In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice, in the morning I lay my request before you and wait expectantly. Psalm 5:3-4
The alarm rings. As our minds wake from the fuzziness of slumber, thoughts of the day come rushing in, as we go over what needs to be done. The day ahead may hold some unpleasant tasks; perhaps our to do list is so long it makes us tired before we can even begin. In any case, some mornings, we’d rather stay in bed so we don’t have to face the day at all.
Can you even imagine instead of the same way, begin your day before your alarm goes off, grab that cup of coffee, tea, or cold drink, get to your comfy place with your Bible and begin your day with a cup of Christ. The words of Beth Moore (founder of Living Proof Ministries) Imagine how different our days would be if we had our cups filled by Christ first thing in the morning. When Christ fills our cups, He gives us His love, joy, peace and patience. We’re able to be kind, good, faithful, gentle. (The fruits of the Spirit which can be found in the book of Galatians 5:22-23) A little self-control might come in handy at an opportune moment as well.
Invite Jesus into your thoughts by whispering his name, and then suddenly your day brightens and feels more user-friendly. When you speak Jesus’ name in loving trust, you sense His presence and feel yourself drawing closer to him. There is great power in His name: Simply whispering Jesus, can turn a hard day into a good one. By calling on his name frequently, you acknowledge your continual need of him. His very being, Jesus is joyfully responding to your invitation by coming nearer to you.
Jesus is pleased by your desire to rely on him in ordinary moments as well as in the big events in your life. When you whisper Jesus, Jesus, he respond not only to your neediness but also to your love for him. As you look to him, his face shines upon you in radiant approval brightening your day and helping you feel secure. What a wonderful way to start off each and everyday with a cup full from Christ.
Grace and Peace to You My Friends
I once hear that our minds are the driest sponges in the morning, so what we choose to fill it with is very important. I cannot recommend having morning quiet time with the Lord enough! Your words are so true and I love that verse. I think I will put that up on the wall where I can see it during my quiet time 🙂
